My Maytag quietseries dishwasher fills then starts running then stops tries to runagain thenstops 4 times total then just shuts down.

Sorry I only have more questions. If you observe the following things it may help rule out the thermostat or heating element . There are similarities to my problem. My dishwasher run for 4 seconds and stops briefly and starts again and will do that for ever.
1. Will it run properly in RINSE ONLY mode?
2. Does it run constantly or stop /starts continuously?
3. Does the soap dispenser open?
4. Does the timer count down? Ie cycle reads 2H and counts down, at least on my model.
5. Finally noticing if all the normal sequencing is happening. Ie turns on, pump empties the dishwasher, fill occurs, arms spin, and so forth. you should be able hear the unit empty and refill again and the rinse light goes on.

just fill it with water no soap and drop in vinegar right in the water and let it run its cycle

could be a bad thermistor

1.Test door switch with a ohm meter it should read zero when door is latch..

Check the Lid switch. Most top load machines will not spin unless the lid is down and this is determined by the lid switch.

Could it be a thermostat proble?

I read all the blogs on this dishwasher and decided to buy a new one and use this one as landfill...
Nothing but junk.

It may sound loud and like something is terrably wrong - but when we researched and took the pieces of the sprayer arm out all the way down to the drain - we found 2 small pieces of nut shells - that's it ! They were making the dishwasher sound as if it had something really wrong with it. We removed the nut shells - put all the parts back together - it runs perfect!! Just remember to place the parts and screws in the order they came out - so you put it back together correctly

The dishwasher lights are all blinking, it starts randomly, like one in every 50 times you press the buttons. I have unplugged it to reset several times. Nothing is working. I'm looking for a solution to blinking lights and it not starting. is there any other way to reset the controls????

Try pressing heated wash, heated dry, then heated wash, heated dry. It should reset it. Also try pressing and holding the cancel button for 5 seconds to see if that works if the other doesnt.
