Lens Sticking My daughter has this camera and the lens is stuck out and will not retract. When she turns the power on ACCESS comes on the screen and says to turn the camera off and then back on, but the lens never retracts. How can I fix this? Thank you for ANY help that you can provide me.

The same exact thing happened to me when I accidentally dropped my camera on the ground. My dad actually fixed it for me. I cannot exactly remember what he did, but I know this can be fixed! =]

He did something with the lense, not sure, I wish I could remember!

My daughter dropped our A520. The power comes on for a second and then shuts down. The lens is stuck open. Is this worth fixing?

I had this problem once. The lens was stuck open and the power would not go on. I took out the storage card and the lens retracted.

Turn the power off and on again message

Hi,

Error: TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN is displayed on the LCD screen when the Lens Mechanism is stuck or when affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.

Performing a manual power reset

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.

To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the Main Settigs 1 Menu of the Camera to OK.This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.

If the issue persists, service may be required.

Casio Exilim EX-Z60 won't turn on

This happened to me too, fiddle with the lens as its obviously stuck. Don't be too rough but try to figure out if it is slightly bent.

You will only be able to this if the lens is sticking out a little, enough to get a grip.

Good luck

Lenz stuck out

If the lens mechanism has been damaged or is sticking from foreign material around the lens housing it will shut down when you try to power on. Once in a while you can try to assist the lens by placing gentle pressure against it when you power on and the lens may retract. This will most likely not fix the problem but it may give you a better idea if the mechanism is damaged or not.

Polaroid i735 Camera won't turn on. Lens stuck.

I had the same problem, and fixed it by wiggling the lens a little, when turning it on.
After a few tries, it finally wiggled free, and the lens retracted.

Broken zoom

The E18 error is fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension.

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for about 50% of lens errors, but they're worth a try:

The lens is stuck

my daughter sat on ours while it was on and the lens wouldn't retract. I tried the banging repair suggested for a stuck lens. After quite a few tries, it got the lens to retract when turned off but it wouldn't stay out when on, so i grabbed the lens and gently pulled it all the way out while it was on and it worked! (phew!)

Lens Stuck

Same problem guys!!! LENS HAD GOT STUCK - ABOUT ONE THIRD OUT after a knock. After lots of playing, and tapping and batteries in and out tried the whole twisting and pulling thing whilst turning off and on.

After a few minutes it came free and whole lens popped out. I then had to twist the outer part of the lens to straighten that up and allow it to fully retract. Works a treat now!

PS Tried the Sony online chat support - useless!!!!
