Question about GE JDP39 Electric Kitchen Range

Open Question

Control Panel I have a GE Range. About 3 years ago I woke up one morning to the digital display all lite up. I press the buttons I get nothing. Now here is the kicker I can but a big pot of water on the stove top because they still work and after boiling for alittle bit the clock resets itself at this point I can use the oven and for a couple hours afterwards but the next morning the display will be all lite up again and if I want to use the stove I have to boil the water all over again? Help what should I do? Its getting old to get boiling water evertime. Thanks a ton!

GE profile Stove, JSP40WW3WW. All the segments on the digital display are on continuously. I have tried disconnecting the power for 10 minutes in an attempt to reset the microprocessor but to no avail. Is there a manual reset on the processor board or am I looking at a new control board altogether. PS stovetop works fine but all other electronic functions are unavailable.

Are you on LP/Propane gas or Natural gas?
Was the range set up by a technician?

SOURCE: my ge gas stove works, but the flames just don't

There can be poor air mix ( oxygen) for the flame to grow up. so remove the burner and use a good metal brush and air jet to clean off allt he crust and dirt of food lodged into the burners.
Now if the regulator gas fflow is down then your jet is blocked. If so you might have to remvoe the regulator to see that the jet is cleaned out . use a thin pin and airjet to clean.

Ge xl44 stove digital display clock stop working.

We see this failure due to two possible problems with the electronic control. Sometimes there is a failure that causes the display to shut off. Other times the display itself goes bad. The first case we can repair. If you send us the board we can check it out. If it is not repairable there is no charge. - www.fixyourboard.com.

Oven does not work

Open the control panel to expose the clock/oven control.
With a volt meter verify incoming voltage to the clock control.
Check all wires for good contact.
If it still does not work replace the clock.

Remember to unplug the range to check the wires for good contact.

Electronic touch pad not working on my oven

Hello beachlady80,
Welcome

You said, It was working fine last night but when you woke up this morning the display has 3 vertical lines and none of the electronic touch pads work. The burners on top of the stove still work.

What is the model number and how old is the range ?

Try turning the breaker off for 10 minutes and then on again after this allotted time.
This may reset the system.
Let me know how it works.

Waiting for your answer.

Flashing bake and probe indication on GE JD968S

I found the Mini-manual inside the control panel area of the range. I followed the instructions for resetting the control. Instructions are shown below:

Glass touch models only- Lock Reference Command
When the control panel is accessed, the signals used by glass touch panel may be adversely affected. To compensate for this change in signals, the following procedure must be followed every time the control panel is accessed.
1. Make sure power to the range is turned off.
2. Completely close the range control panel and return range to it's normal installation.
3. Apply power to the range.

Accessing the the control panel area but not replacing the control.
4. Enter Special Functions area by pressing BAKE and BROIL keys at the same time for 3 seconds.
5. Reset the control by pressing the 9 and 0 or the HOUR DOWN and MINUTE DOWN keys for 3 seconds at the same time.
6. Approximately 20 seconds after the time is displayed, press the 1 and 5 or the TEMP UP and MINUTE UP keys. The control should briefly go blank, briefly display all segments, briefly display LOC REF, display all segments for 30 seconds, and then display LOC REF.
7. Acknowledge LOC REF command by pressing the 6 and 8 or the HOUR DOWN and MINUTE UP keys at the same time. the control should then display the time of day.
8. The oven should then be ready for normal operation.
9. Test the functionality of the glass control panel, especially the CLEAR/OFF and/or CANCEL key(s).

Steps 4 through 7 are appropriate if you have not opened the control panel area. I had to open mine to clean up moisture caused by a boil over.
Judging from the number of inquiries on this same issue, this is a common problem. GE is more than happy to schedule a service call for this issue, but not so happy to give the information over the phone. This is a fairly simple procedure for most people to accomplish.
The ERC on my range appears to be a fairly common unit. I hope this information helps.

Touch Pad

Yes the control panel will need to be replaced. The problem now is these solid state controls and probably made in Mexico. 40 yrs ago everything was mechanical and had fewer problems.

Digital Control (for oven temp and clock adjustment) not working

Puzzeled, usually when there is a stuck or shorted keypad there will be an error code. First let's see if we can tell if we are in Centigrade or Ferenhiet. Press the bake and broil button together for 2 or 3 seconds. SF should appear in the display. Press the broil pad again and C or F will be displayed. Toggle to F and press start. See if that was the problem. If not try to increase the speed of the + and - keypads. Press bake and broil together for 2 seconds until SF displays. Press the + keypad increase the speed of the control. It should toggle from 1 to 5, 5 being the fastest. Press start and see if that works. If niether works..then have someone remove the keypad ribbon cable from the control board and clean the ends with an eraser. See if that solves the issue...Catriver..post back and let me know.
