Check and make sure a disk is not stuck in the disk drive. If a disk is not stuck try closing the door and hold the door close, shut down the computer. Start the computer and hold the the door while the computer reboots. Hope this fixes it. email@example.com..
This unit has a problem with component failure in the dvd section of the unit. It is probably in the power supply to the dvd drive. Thats why it fails when you insert a dvd. You should get the unit tested and serviced for the problem. You can call the Magnavox customer support at thsi telephone number 1-800-605-8453. Tell them the model number of the unit and about the failure of dvd section of the unit. They will be able to tell you how you can get the unit serviced. I hope this information helps you with you problem.
tough luck buddy, this system is sh!t. i'm on my second and have now got a similar problem with the second system. I eventually took a pen knife to the first unit to get the dvd out and then managed to get a rented dvd stuck in the machine a week later.
Problem of tray opening on hp dvd burner. I got the door open as suggested above with paperclip. Then took some CRC 2-26 plastic safe electrical grade lubricant and swabbed the pivoting door mechanism. Opened with the paperclip about 5-6 more times until it finally opens normally.
hmmmm.... try to take off the cover of your dvd player and observe it.(if you try my advice, try it in your own risk and with caution) then check the tray maybe there is something got stuck in there and also check the gears, if nothing, a belt just came off. check the motor too, I guess It has 2 switches too. clean them up. and then try to power up.
(keep you fingers away at the power supply section)
