l am wanting to purchase the cable that connects from my camera to tv so l can transfer stuff onto disk through my dvd recorder. l don't know what cable l need to purchase & who l would contact in Australia to purchase one.

Plug the USB cable into the computer and the camera. Your computer should recognize the camera as a mass storage device, and open a window allowing you to transfer the contents of the camera onto your computer.
Use firewire connection(DV Port) and must use a good quality cable. Sub standard cable lead you to trouble. There's no Vista issue with this camcorder model, only at the software side, JVC website provide a list for those update is needed including upgrade link. I can not post the link this time since that was long time and i need to search for that again. Have search it on JVC site, i will give you an update as well. Good Luck, keep in touch
I had this problem with the GZ-MG505AA (connecting to WinXP SP3). I tried a different USB cable and it worked first time. Not sure what is different about the cables (the original cable worked fine with my WM 6 mobile phone).
