The controls directly on the player do not work. Yet all of the functions work correctly from the remote. Can I fix this?

I need code(s) for my DVD Video, Model #: NB093 remote control to program my Philips DVD Player/VCR, Model #: DVP3345V/17. Can you please help me? I would greatly appreciate it. Here is a picture of it.

http://remotecodelist.com/remotes/magnavox/magnavox.htm lists the code for your device as possibly being 1000, 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004, or 1005. Of course, you also have the option of using the remote controller's "Code Search" button. 25300580-iv4burzhkawezvl2jbah1xae-2-0.jpg With Codes:
Turn on the DVD/VCR unit directly. Continue to depress the remote controller's "Code Search" button for about ten seconds, release, & the light on the remote controller should stay on. Enter the four-digit code (1000, 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004, or 1005) for the DVD/VCR unit. The remote controller's light should go off. Press the remote controller's power button, & when the DVD/VCR unit turns off, then you will know that the remote controller has been correctly programmed.

Without Codes:

With the DVD/VCR unit on, continue to depress the remote controller's "Code Search" button for about ten seconds, release, & the light on the remote controller should stay on. Continue to tap the remote controller's UP or DOWN channel button ONLY UNTIL the DVD/VCR unit responds. Then, press the power button on the remote controller once the channel has changed. If the DVD/VCR unit shuts off, then press the power button again to turn it back on. If the DVD/VCR unit turns on, then the remote controller has been correctly programmed. Otherwise, repeat this whole process until the remote controller is correctly programmed.

My Sony DVD/VCR player Model DVW-7200. I cannot get the remote to work. i can manually use the unit. Now i cannot find the operating manual. Isn't there a process to reset the remote control?

The only instruction manual I can find online for this model is for a SANYO DVW-7200 combo unit. This manual does not illustrate in any detail about remote control 'reset'; only the unit itself using remote to 'initialize' back to factory settings (except parental lock).

If the unit does not respond to the remote control;

Check if the power plug is connected to an AC outlet.

Check the batteries in the remote control.

Aim the remote control directly at the remote sensor. If necessary, remove all the obstacles
between the sensor and the remote control.

You have to be within 23 feet of this unit.

Check if the right mode is selected. If it's not in the right mode, press [DVD] or [VCR],
whichever you need, on the remote control.

Check if a cassette tape is in this unit.

Tune your radio to an empty AM station so that you hear a lot of noises. Turn the volume up,
then if you hear some signal sound from the radio in response to your pressing buttons on
the remote control, the remote control is working.

(the above tips come from the manual)

You can obtain a free pdf of the user manual for SANYO DVW-7200 (which is the closest to your model) and have a look through it. You can get it from the following:

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Sanyo-DVW-7200-DVD-Players-manual/id/311ag906/t/2/

Follow the prompts (it may ask for an email address), and enter the correct number code to download the document, then save the file. I don't know if it will help you or not, but worth a look.

This model does have a way to turn off progressive scan if it is enabled by accident:

press and hold [PLAY] button on front of unit for 5 - 10 seconds then release. This should revert the unit back to normal interlace (if required).

Hello-- I believe the remote sensor in my unit is

Remote sensors are fickle beasts; and they can develop weird characteristics in any appliance, but they seldom fail completely. It is usually the circuit behind it which can fail, in particular, the function control IC (this IC is easy to locate on the board as the sensor is directly connected within close proximity to it).

When this circuit fails or it becomes weak, the unit no longer receives the correct pulses from the remote. It can be a fiddly repair job, add the cost of parts to that list, and it becomes expensive and time-consuming. You may be able to locate a replacement IRD from an electronics store, which will fit/work like the original did - note its pin orientation and voltage rating (IRDs are voltage rated, typically around 5V), as for the function control IC, unless you note the original's part number, this could prove impossible to obtain.

My guess is that for you it is simply a faulty IRD (or IR receiver) - if you can obtain the right one for your model, it should be an easy repair. It may or may not be soldered directly to the board. Hopefully you do not need a new function control IC as well.

Fingers crossed for you on this one.

Need remote code for DVD player

From my searches I don't think you will find it. Try going to http://www.sony.ca/view/cic_contact.htm and asking them directly for it. I can't see them saying no.

When I press the TV/VCR button on the remote, the picture on the TV becomes fuzzy and we see no signal from the DVD player. The first sign we were having trouble was that we couldn't set the time...

The TV/VCR button is usually not a function of a DVD player itself.

Normally this is a button on VCR remote controls that allow you to switch between whats playing in the VCR or whats coming in from the 'air/cable signal' from the cable or antenna wire on the back.

If this is a VCR/DVD player combo unit it would appear that the TV may be on the wrong channel for proper operation of the VCR functions (ch 3 or 4 are usually the selectable option on the back of the unit).

Make sure your DVD player is plugged into the correct input on the TV(video 1/svideo/or component ) and the TV is tuned to that same input. If the TV is on the correct input then the TV/VCR button shouldn't do anything at all which is normal operation when watching a DVD. If this doesn't clarify please reply with the model # of the unit. I would be happy to help more.

I mistakenly purchased a Protron PD-DVR100 without a remote control. How can I get the universal remote control to recognize it? Neither the model nor maker are listed in the universal remote control...

You will need a universtal remote that seeks for the correct signal.
When you press the power button - it goes through all possibilities until it goes off.

Or purchase an original remote replacement HERE.
An original remote will give you all the functions available - whereas a universal will only give you the basic functions.

Please accept this answer to remove it from the work queue.

Thanks for using FixYa!!

I can't get to work the set up function on my remote control

You must look into the owners manuals of both units and check the correct set-up procedures.Check to see if the remotes for both units must be used for playing dvds.Check to see in you using the correct output to input cable connections. If you are using a third unit in the hook-up look in the owners manual for the correct connections and the correct setting for the use of it with the other two units. The only way to be sure you have you hook -up correct is by useing the owners manuals, because the have all the details for these set-ups. Hope this helps you with your problem.

The remote control code is wrong. Change to the correct code. The batteries are depleted. Replace them with new ones. Point the remote control at the remote control sensor on the main unit. Remove obstacles between the remote ccontrol and the main unit. Remove dust from the transmission window and the unit's sensor. Colored glass may obstruct the signal reception/transmission. Don't place the signal sensor in direct sunlight or in areas that be subject to sun exposure. It may be necessary to set the code on the remote control again after changing the batteries. It may be necessary to set the manufacture code again after changing the batteries.
I hope this info can be of some help to you. Ms Tanya 2/12/08 4:02AM CST.
