Question about Amana 22.6 cu. ft. Side-By-Side Refrigerator with FrontFill Ice and Water
When I shut the door to the refrigerator (not slaming it, but normal shutting it, the freezer door is now opening slightly by not enough to light the bulb, but enough to cause frost to start building up. The door does not feel as tightly sealed as the refrigerator. It was made in 1988. Is it time to go looking for a new one?

There are three possibilities to this problem:
1. Door seal which should be magnetic is faulty.
2. Ice maker caddy (container) has not socketed properly into ice maker rear drive tang.
3. Door stay closed plastic hing pieces are damaged. These are tapered pieces that fit in hinge area that allow door weight to help close and hold door. Some are black in color and some are white. As far as I know they are interchangeable.

Sounds you need to replace the freezer gasket. they are made of soft rubber and over time they loosen up. have a technician replace it.
