    My computer is a Satellite A100, not a Vista

  • camataylor Jul 17, 2008

    A Toshiba tech tried to walk me thru what I needed to do to fix the problem. We both became frustrated when I couldn't follow her directions because she was asking me to click tabs, like the TOOL tab, and that was not a choice I had. She finally told me that I should just go to Supporttoshiba.com and download a **** creator program, that's how I ended up it this mess.

    Go to Symantec.com and download Norton Ghost. That will backup your drive for you.

    Disk creator was program Toshiba provided for copying CDs but it was no longer supported when Windows XP was released.

Dell gx 260 there is no disc in the drive.

OK, first of all you said you put a blank DvD in the drive. Make sure your dell has a DvD writer. Look on the drawer of the drive and see does it say DvDrw or DvDROM. It has to say Rw for rewritable and not ROM for Read Only Media. Maybe you have a Combo Drive that is DvDrom and CDrw which means it will read both DvD's and Cd's but in can only Write CD's.

If in fact you do have a DvD writer make sure you're not trying to put a Blue Ray disc in the drive.

Lastly, remove the DvD from the drive. Click Start/My Computer. Notice what it brings up as to your DvD Drive. Does it Say DvDrw or just plain ole DvD. DvD means it will only read a DvD.

Unregistering DLLs

<p><b>Introduction:</b><br /> <p><b>What are DLL files?</b><br /> <p>DLLs are dynamically linked library files. DLL file contains a list of certain functions that can be used by various applications. Spool32.dll is a great example of how the things work: that file is used by various programs for print control within Windows 95 and Windows 98.<br /> <p><b>Why is it important to unregister malicious DLLs?</b><br /> <p>DLLs may contain information essential for a computer to function properly. Malicious programs may corrupt regular DLL files or they may install new DLLs instead of normal ones.<br /> <p>Deleting DLLs is a risky deal since it can affect computers performance and functionality of many applications. If a malicious DLL is somehow used by a regular application and the DLL file is removed, the application won't work normally even if the deleted DLL is not needed for a program to function. This is why you have to unregister DLLs before deleting them.<br /> <p><b>How to unregister malicious DLL files?</b><br /> <p><b>a) Open Command Prompt window</b><br />Click the "<b>Start</b>" button and select "<b>Run</b>" option. Type "<b>cmd</b>" into the "<b>Open</b>" field and click the "<b>OK</b>" button.<br /> <p><b>b) Unregister malicious DLL file<br /></b>Type "<b>regsvr32 /u filename.dll</b>" into the Comand Prompt window and click "<b>Enter</b>". "<b>Filename.dll</b>" should be the name of DLL file you want to unregister<br /> <p>

E:\ is not accessible. Incorrect Function.

Also make sure your software is FINALIZING or CLOSING the disc when burning. Otherwise all you are doing is writing temp files for windows to read but no other player will.

Start the computer using the last known good configuration To start the computer using the last known good configuration
  1. Print these instructions before continuing. They will not be available after you shut down your computer in step 2.
  2. Click Start, click Shut Down, and then, in the drop-down list, click Shut down.
  3. In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK.
  4. When you see the message Please select the operating system to start, press F8.
  5. Use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.
  6. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access using the arrow keys, and then press ENTER.
note.gif Notes
  • Choosing Last Known Good Configuration provides a way to recover from problems such as a newly added driver that may be incorrect for your hardware. It does not solve problems caused by corrupted or missing drivers or files.
  • When you choose Last Known Good Configuration, only the information in registry key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet is restored. Any changes you have made in other registry keys remain.
  • NUM LOCK must be off before the arrow keys on the numeric keypad will function.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software. If the problem recurs, consult with the software vendor for assistance.
