Question about Wacom Bamboo Fun 5.8" x 3.7" USB Tablet with Cordless Pen and Mouse - Black

Pen Tip Not Working

I have only had my Bamboo Fun for a few weeks, and only used it twice. I recently went to use my tablet and it wouldn't recognize my pen tip or the buttons on the pen. The weird thing is that my eraser works just fine and so do all the buttons on the tablet. I hope someone has the answers! Thanks =)

My old dependable Wacom Graphire 4 just started doing that too when I got my new Dell this month. I am still on XP, but just updated the OS. Wondering if it's a conflict with a Windows update?

me too, i just bought it 3 weeks ago. i use my friend's laptop and it didn't work, first i thought it was because her laptop is not compatible. but when i try again at home, only the eraser works.

Exact same problem. Eraser works just fine, but tip of the pen doesn't. Tried two different drivers (two latest from wacom). I'm running Windows Vista on a laptop.

I had the same problem and called Wacom Customer Care at 360-896-9833... I was informed that the pen was defective/ broken and needs to be replaced. This can be caused by being dropped and such. I was told that i should keep the pen on the stand or a eyeglasses case when not in use.
If your tablet is under a year old, warranty will cover the cost of the pen with proof of purchase. Other than that, you will need to purchase a new pen (about $29.99 from Wacom & online).

Unfortunate, but great to know.

That happened to me yesterday. What I did was I went to the wacom site here: http://www.wacom.com/downloads/drivers.php, selected my tablet make and operating system, and downloaded the driver update. I installed it and as soon as it was done my pen started working again. Hopefully this works for you too!

It may be the USB port you're plugging into going bad. Try switching to plugging into a different USB port and see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't it may be something faulty in the tablet itself and will still be covered by the manufacturer's warrenty. From my experience with Wacom, they're very prompt in fixing or replacing bad tablets.

Wacom Bamboo Fun Pen isnt working correct

I think you dropped the pen on its tip and broke the little ferrite sensing core.  You can try to repair it by gluing the core back together - it worked for me.  For detailed instructions on how to do it, go here: http://wishidknownthat.blogspot.com/2009/04/fixing-wacom-bamboo-pen.html  or you can try to swap the core for the eraser and the tip (more involved - you would need to be very good with a soldering iron to attempt this).  Either way - it's unfortunate that the pen is so fragile and that the user manual doesn't really warn you of this.
Good luck!
