The heater in a 1996 cadillac fleetwood does not blow hot air when engine is idling, it is just warm, when the weather is very cold, (below 25 degrees.) when it is not this cold it seems to work ok. thanks for your support

Low coolant, if there is an air pocket in the engine it will make it to the heater core. Once there , the air coming out is cold/cool. Once the coolant fills the heater core, it gets hot. If the coolant is fine hot or cold, then have the HVAC system scanned.

Try flushing or blowing high pressure air through the heater core lines. its sludge build up and need to be flushed through heater core only. check antifreeze fluid level. only put in straight antifreeze, do not mix. most people do not know what mixture should be, so be safe and add straight, it will not hurt it, i run 100% straight antifreeze and never had a problem or worry about it ever freezing and cracking my block, heads or radiator cracking.

could be but caddy's have 2-3 heat and air computers on there cars that control diff functions of the system seperately either one of them can be and will be bad !! they control the vents to temp control valve and blower i owned enough caddy's to know this!! this is why!! i drive a chev truck today LOL

make sure it has a thermostat

chek the valve out side heater hows at fire wall

impeller is made of plastic on teh water pump and its slipping and spinning on the shaft renew before weather warms up as engine will overheat

check fuses....
