Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a Hewlett Packard laptop from the UK. I now live in the US and it broke down and no longer works. I'd like to get the data off the hard drive to move to a new machine but was told by a repair person that they didn't have the correct wires to do it. Where can I bring the computer to get the data removed from the hard disk?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Hard drive not found hp pavilion ze5730us

If this machine is running XP, beware. It is no longer supported, and hackers will be looking for these machines to infect. I recommend you get a newer machine. The hard drive may be failing, or just the OS or hard drive corrupted. You could try this... Pull the hard drive out, and use a USB Hard Drive Adapter to connect the hard drive to a friend's computer, and save all the personal files (documents, pictures, etc.) you can to a folder on the friend's computer or an external hard drive.

as long as the drive is working..not clicking or non responding.just pop in the hard drive and it will auto open in windows.or other os then drag and drop as needed. you can open "my computer" to see the new drive and letter. open both drives in two separate windows and move as needed.

Hard disk failure imm

Hello

The hard drive is a mechanical device that WILL fail - it is only a matter of time. Since you are being prompted that yours is about to fail, you need to get a backup of your data as soon as possible.

Use a USB memory stick, USB hard drive, CD or DVD disk or network drive to copy your data from the hard drive immediately. Once your data is copied to a safe location, you can run CHKDSK /r /f from the CMD line to check the hard drive and possibly fix issues.

If the hard drive has "Bad Sectors", you will need to replace the hard drive.

Can I use any SATA hard drive to replace the HP Hewlett Packard Pavilion Slimline S3300F Desktop SATA? Thank you Albert

Hello,
Yes, in fact you will most likely be able to get an upgrade as most HPs have a 5400 RPM hard drive and you can find great 7200rpm SATA hard drives.

There are also 10000rpm drives available but at this point they aren't worth the price in my professional opinion.

Good luck.

On black white screen it says Hard Drive failure is imminent. Back up or replace

Your computer is set to warn you of controller failure to the hard drive. Its called SMART monitoring. You will have to replace the drive. Start backing up your precious data to a reliable drive before the unthinkable happens. Right now it will continue running normally, but it WILL fail. Portable hard drives are extremely cheap right now. Its recommended you purchase a portable drive that is at least twice the size of your current hard drive. Next, get a hard drive that is the same type of drive you have in your system (have a service tech help you with this if youre not comfortable doing this).
