If the monitor is not working, how do you know the mouse is not working?

Have you tried a different monitor?

Does the computer make any sound or beeps when you turn it on?

I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s3700y that doesn't always boot. Power is getting to the computer; the light on the back lights up as well as the lights on the front. However, power doesn't seem to...

If you saying "doesn't always boot", most common would be motherboard...
If your motherboard still beeps, then probably some other components has the problem like RAM, GPU card etc., depends on your motherboard.

    Hope that give an idea...

HP Pavilion Slimline s3122x powers up fan runs

    Hi Im Rain.
I may have bad news for you. Its a very bad sign when your keyboard and monitor are not working at the same time. Sounds like the technician was right.
I also think its your motherboard. If you really just like the computer you can invest in another motherboard.

I have a HP S3500t, 64 bit Vista Home premium On power up of the system, monitor comes up and says no vidio in, hard drive access light blinks once but never tries to boot. No audio beeps are heard. No...

I feel for you... No suggestion, other than to try a different video card, but I do thank you for taking the time to check a few things and spelling them out - unless so many other popsters on this board!

HP Slimline Pavillion s3123w monitor going to sleep.

Sounds like the motherboard might be bad but go thru these steps.

Unseat and reseat the memory one stick at a time in each slot one at at time and turn on the computer after each stick reinsertion.

If that doesn't get the video to come back up then go ahead and unseat and reseat the CPU. Then try turning on the computer.

If that doesn't do it, make sure there is no power going to the hard drive or the dvd drive. Then try turning on the computer.

If you do all of these steps and you still have no video, then the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.

    Will not power up

there is a known issue with the GPU on these boards going out. thats why you have the strange rolling on the screen. i have sent some units in to hp to get new motherboards.

send it in, after that i believe you will at least have 90 days on the repair.

call hp and they will send you a box, you should get it back in 7-10 biz days last i checked.

in some cases on the s3000 series they have added an extended 12 mos to original purchase dat or before 12.31.09 whatever is first.

get it done now before its too late

    Good Luck!
