Sounds like you need a new pitch control. YOu can purchase a pitch control separately and install yourself, however soldering is required. You will have to solder off the old board, and solder on the new board.

You can purchase the PART HERE

Erratic pitch movement

I'm afraid it could be many things, most likely nothing to do with the pitch control. I believe you have a Direct Drive motor, so that maybe bad. There is a circuit that operates with a microprocessor(computer) IC, called a Phase Lock Loop, which is what keeps the pitch accurate. Anything there could be bad. More more information, or should you have more questions, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. I may be contacted through the website. Thank you.

How to replace the speed pitch

Take off the platter by pulling up on the 2 holes under the slip matts. Flip it over. Twist off the feet. Take out about a thousand screws. And the black ruberish section should come right off. There are 2 screws that hold the pitch in place. Unplug it! plug the new one in! It real simple. If its an old 1200 and you can solder....Replace the RCA jacks as they to wear out. Good luck! And if you need me just message me!.

How do i change the speed of technics 1210 mk2 back to the original speed?

if you take off the platter, then undo the plastic board covering and protecting the circuit board...then once you have access to the circuit board...there should be a little blue knob, usually located top right...its basically a matter of turning it untill you are happy with it, unless you have a little mark on the blue knob and the circuit board...if you or someone has done that, then that will be the master setting, of +8/-8 pitch

Help for technics 1200 MK2 and 1210 Speed is too fast

On the 1200MK2 the pitch control slider is for just that purpose. Disregard the 0 setting and use the illuminated strobe marks on the platter to adjust to nominal speed. When they appear to be motionless you are there. The control on the 1210 may be a knob but the same principles apply.

The pitch controls are probably dirty and need to be calibrated. Any authorized Technics service center should be able to do this fairly easily. You can clean them out yourself by using DEOX-IT or similar, but would need a frequency counter to calibrate them.

Technics 1210 Mk 2 Pitch Fade Problems

You have to understand any sort of calibration meter will only tell you if the pitch control is faulty - or excessively too fast/too slow. If your units are just 'off' then that is a matter of a simple calibration of your pitch controls back to original factory specs. Also, just so you know, the pitch controls on the 1200s are not really calibrated when they leave the factory. They are basically installed, set a default setting, then shipped off. So, you'll often times have 2 turntables with sequential serial numbers, but they are both off.

Here is a tutorial on calibrating your unit back to original factory settings: TECHNICS SL1200MK2 / SL1210MK2 TURNTABLE PITCH CALIBRATION

You can also print this out and give it to the technician who serviced your units. Also ask him what kind of calibration meter, or unit did he use to test? Just curios.

Technics 1210 mk2 problem with pitch and lights

Check that your voltage settings are set correctly. This is located underneath your turntable platter. If you remove the slipmat, you will see 2 holes on the metal platter. Rotate the platter till you see the voltage switch, located @ the 9'o'clock position. Make sure it's set to your correct settings (N.America = 115V / Euro = 220V). If not, you will need a flat head screw driver to switch it. Before you switch it, make sure your unit is off and unplugged. After you swich it, it should be ok.

If your still having issues with the speed and the pop-up light, then there is something seriously wrong, and will need to be checked by a technician. Sometimes a resistor or IC will go bad, causing the speed issue, but for the pop-up light - that's usually faulty wiring generally caused by an incorrect replacement.

Did you buy this new or used? Have you had this serviced recently?
