Hello, If you are using this combo with cable and the channels just coming through, you will need to replace the tuner(mounts vertically on the main board and it's located directly behind the cable/antenna connector). If you are trying to use this TV with a set of rabbit ears, the free signal channels turnes digital last year and that is why you get nothing. The tuner as an assembly is still available from a couple of sources: Partstore.com and Union Electronics(email@example.com)
If you still see some signs of life on the screen, it means that there could be something else wrong in the main board not the power supply.
I would suggest to measure the voltages from the power supply, specially the 5VDC. If there was a power surge is more likely that it damaged the main board because the power supply is not well regulated to control the output voltage to the main board and other circuitry. Let me know if you need further assistance.
What channel is it and when they tune in that channel, is the picture nice and clear or is it grainy and snowy before the screen goes blue? On some sets, if the signal is weak, the picture will go blue. This is called Blue Screen and is there so you do not see very poor, grainy and snowy pictures. Some sets will have an option in the menu to turn the blue screen off.
