IBM Wheelwriter 30 Series II Typewriter 6787

When we turn on our typewriter, we get a message 114 08 with a little square box in front of it with a diagonal line through it. Could you please solve this for us?

    HI

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I did everything you suggested, but the error message 114_08 with a square box with a diagonal line through it still remains. Any other suggestions?

Same problem here. I've replaced the batteries, but still the same error response and the machine won't work.

I just hung up from a local repair shop & they located the error message....it's a function board error. He said the function board - the main workings of the machine - would need to be replaced. I didn't have him call for exact price, but he said it would cost something in the range of $300. I'm located in Texas.

The book says turn the T/W off wait 30 seconds and restart, if condition returns call for service. However you might try removing the batteries and unplugging the machine waiting a few minutes and restarting. CAUTION ALL THE MEMORY WILL BE LOST!

I just hung up with a local repair shop. They located the error message and said it's a function board error & the function board would need to be replaced. I didn't have him get an exact quote, but he estimated $300. Bad news.

This code does not appear in the users guide. You might try removing the batteries turn off for 30 sec. and restart. This will reset everything to factory defaults.

THIS WILL CLEAR THE MEMORY!!!

My IBM Wheelwriter 30 Series II has a message of a box and an X in it and then the numbers 215 can someone tell me how can fix this?

Check to be sure the printwheel to be sure it is properly installed, check for debris in the P/W area, If these are OK then the sensor is probably bad.

Typing characters that are not intended

Try these troubleshooting suggestions for your problem:

Wrong Characters Print or Characters Space Incorrectly:

1. Turn the typewriter off, wait 30 seconds, then turn the typewriter
on again and try typing again.
2. Make sure the LANG indicator is off.
3. Try a new printwheel.
4. Look for objects In the path of the carrier.
5. Make sure the printwheel is changed when there is a language

6. If you are playing back, make sure you use the same pitch

I believe a 215 code is a bad printwheel sensor. You need a tech.
