Is there a fuse on a Microwave. 14 yrs old just stopped working. Can it be fixed or should I just buy a new one.

Yes, but chances are it is not the fuse. I just fixed an LG with the same problem by replacing a thermostat, that went bad. On this model the power goes through a filter and then 2 thermostats before it will power up the board. If you are not familiar with electronics and the unit is over 3 yrs old I would just buy a new one. my part was $4 but to have a tech replace it will probably cost you $100.

I dont think so, parts will probably cost as much as a new microwave unless you want to get one that is an over the range one. Then it would be cheaper to fix that one.

9 amps is approx. correct. Does magnatron make an odd sound when running? If not, you will need to discharge cap then clean terminals with alcahol. Replace diode as well. Should run correctly.If blows again, replace magnatron. Suggest you put a 12 amp fast blow fuse in circuit and nor a 20 fuse.If you dont have a grill or an oven, use a 10 amp fuse.

Ck and make sure the circuit breaker on the power panel on the house hasn't tripped.. If your microwave is within 6' of the kitchen sink, ck for a tripped GFCI controlling the power the microwave is plugged into. Good Luck, Ned

I had the same oven for one and a half years and had the same problem. Had the sears repairman come out and he said the magnetron burned out and needed replacing for $285. It was never under warranty with the warranty that came with oven. I couldn't believe it! We had an independent repairman look at it and he found a design flaw that causes the magnetron to blow. If you replace the matnetron (megnatron?) it will work for awhile, maybe, but then just need to be replaced again. It's cheaper to buy a new microwave. In fact, I got out our old microwave that's over 20 yrs. old and still works--just isn't as fast and as new ovens. Good luck!

sounds like a panel issue for sure.
if the microwave is over 5 yrs old I would recommend replacing it
newer microwaves use far less power than before.
and they are not too expensive
