Question about Televison & Video

Matsui 28WN TV keeps turning itself off at random. is this likely to be a Power Supply fault (worth looking at / maybe replacing) or is this symptomatic of something worse? Any ideas / help please.

It is just a 28 WN - it also says CUC 2059 and XCH 56 on the identification plate, but there's no 03/04 etc. attached to the WN.

Toshiba 37 inch flat screen 37AV502U keep turning itself on then off randomly. Any ideas what it could be?

Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Tv cycles on and off

Sounds like bad capacitors in nthe power supply, or maybe a regulator in the power supply. Have a tech take a look at this TV set for you, as there are no user replacable parts available in the TV set. Good Luck

My matsui m32lw508 will not switch on just flickers then the standby light comes on.

Hello,

Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Take care .......

WHEN I TURN THE TV ON IT IMMEDIATELY SHUTS OFF....THEN, I CAN'T TURN IT ON UNLESS I UNPLUG IT FIRST. IT SHUTS OFF IMMEDIATELY AGAIN.....AND SO ON!! I WAS THINKING THAT MAYBE THERE WAS A ''FUSE'' OR SOME...

This sounds like a serious overload of the power supply circuitry - as the TV tries to start up, it is sensing an overload and therefore shuts itself down to protect itself (and you if it overheated).

Primary causes of such overloads in older TVs is a fault in the power supply circuitry itself, or a fault in the line output circuitry (the bit that generates the high voltages TV's use, and also the bit that scans the picture left to right).
Both types of fault require expertise and test equipment well beyond DIY level, to diagnose and repair.

Suggest you call a repair shop who should give you a free estimate as to likely cost of repair. Then you can decide if it worth it or not.

Lct2701td akai brand, plugged in, flashing red light, but will not turn on

Sounds like it started "Protection Mode" because of a failed electronic part inside the TV. When this happens, the TV will keep turning itself OFF or will not turn ON at all. This keeps the other part inside from being damaged. Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. The common part to go bad for flat panel screens circuit board that powers the screen. Most manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board.
But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptoms.

You have a few choices:

1. You can again try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 - 45 minutes so the TV can discharge and reset itself.
2. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.

3. If you have some electronic experience, purchase a Service Manual over the internet at Nodevice.com; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, schematics, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15 by searching on the internet with the part number.

4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Never heard of that model number. You may want to double check the number behind the TV. Sounds like it started "Protection Mode" because of a failed electronic part inside the TV.
