Hello Mkoffice, this a very common problem when floors are installed in front of cabinets and not underthe cabinets. it also causes a problem for the dishwasher. it will become trapped or cant be installed. If you dont want to removed cabinets to install the tile. you will need to raise the cabinet height. my shop has run into this before. We add 1 inch tall strips of wood across the entire front edge of the cabinets. the same is done to the back wall and any area where two cabinets sides meet. we dont use full sheet of ply wood because the granite installers will need access into the top of the cabinets to level the counters. The wood type should match the cabinet.( at least in the front) it will have to be stained or painted.
Hope this helps

I am trying to replace my old slide in gas range (Magic Chef- model # 6498XTS with a new slide in gas range and am trying to find out if the new one will fit where the old stove was, here's my problem the...

The installation depths provided in the installation literature, are the minimum requirements for fitting the slide in range into place. You need to determine what the depth of your opening is where you intend to install the appliance. The depth shown on the installation instructions might be showing the overall depth of the appliance, including the oven door, which typically sticks out from the cabinet anywhere from 1-3 inches, depending on the brand, model, etc. The old Magic Chef might have only provided the needed depth for the oven body, and might not have included the front oven door projection, past the countertop, etc. Most cabinents are about 24 inches deep, so anything larger than that, will likely stick out into the room more, unless your cabinents are deeper than 24", you're looking at having the new slide in oven stick out past the front cabinet front/edge, by about 4 5/16". I'd make a cardboard template to the dimensions of the new oven and use that to see just what you're facing with the replacement oven. It could be possible that you've confused the depth with the width for the new oven, as I've not seen many ovens that are as large as 28" unless it was a Viking, or other really high end, professional style oven, etc. Check your installation dimensions again for the Maytag and make a cardboard template to confirm how much space will be needed. The good news is that you can remove the old Magic Chef, since it's not working, to allow you to make a more informed decision as to fit and clearances required for the new oven. Just be sure to disconnect the power to the range or unplug the power cord, if that's what it has, before attempting to remove the slide in. Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

I'll look for open gap on the door, you may have a bad oven door gasket door ajar or door may be warped.

Yes, the glass cook top can be replaced. These counter top inserts are actually fairly simple to repair, but the entire assembly usually has to be uninstalled to accomodate removing the glass top and installing a new one. You will need to provide a model number by opening the cabinet underneath the cook top and looking for a nameplate in order for me to assist you further in determing a part number, cost and how to disassemble.

I need to refinish/paint old formica countertops/doors

Paint on kitchen countertops is a receipe for trouble. Any wear, hot utensils etc will constantly damage it and contaminate you food..
You could peel off the old formica® or install a new layer over it. The home supply stores can give more information on doing this. Some of the newer counter top coverings are now manufactured so the seam where the top joins the side does not show. Doors can be replaced/painted.

Installing a double oven where a freestanding range is now

That should not be a problem, as long as there is room. If you do not leave some room below the OTR (Over the Range) microwave you may not be able to remove it in the future. Most OTR microwaves attach to a wall plate and swing up to the cabinet. Then several bolts drop in from the shelf above. If there is no room to swing the micro back down, you will not be able to take the microwave back down when you want to change it or service some components.

Don't bother rating solution. Anything but a FixYa drops my rating. Thanks anyway.
