Once you have your replacement boot (or seal) (availible at local appliance parts stores or from the manufactures web site on line), You can follow these steps:

1 - Remove the front clamp. (a silver peice of wire with a spring at the botom) A small flat head screwdriver will let you pull it off.
2 - You will have a green clamp on a black hose that comes from the dispenser to the top of the boot (seal) on some models that you will have to disconnect.
3 - The main water inlet (about the 9 o'clock position can just be pulled off (or worked back on durring re-instalation)

4 - Remove the second clamp on the back side of the boot (it's a flat piece of metal that has a screw on it at about the 3 oclock position. Turn it counter-clockwise to loosen. (clockwise for installing the new boot)

5 - Pull the old boot free.

6 - Reverse the procedure making sure to line the new boot up at the top. (there is a arrow that shows where to align the tub (white piece of plastic) and the boot. There is lip on the back of the boot that will seat all of the way around it.

7 - When putting the front clamp back on (the wire and spring combo) there is also a lip to seat around the front as well. When putting on the clamp, use a small flat head screwdriver inserted into one of the holes next to the spring. Then using a pair of needle nose pliers or another screw driver, work the way around the edge re-seating the clamp over the lip.
Taking the lower front panel off can give you a bit more room to work. You can take it off by removing the screws at it's bottom. Also you should run a test cycle where you can easily see if there are any leaks after you are done to prevent water dammage.

Maytag dryer is leaving black marks or rings on clothes

If your clothes get marked or torn in your dryer, check these: Rollers Rear seal Front glides Front seal Rollers Your dryer may use rollers, or wheels, to support the rear of the clothes drum. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rollers wear out, you need to replace the whole set. Rear seal Your dryer may have a felt-like seal at the rear of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, clothes can get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rear seal wears out, you need to replace it. Front glides Your dryer probably uses nylon or plastic glides at the front of the clothes drum for support. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the glides wear out, you need to replace them as a set. Front seal Many dryers have a felt-like seal at the front of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, the clothes in the dryer may get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the seal wears out, you need to replace it.

The hose as torn along the metal ring. How do I

Hi Jim,
SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here.
It is possible to take the end off and re-attatch (but its very fiddly and a real pain). You need to simultaneously push in the small oval pins on the side of the hard plastic part and pull the hose out. Be aware that there is 2 tiny springs inside and if they dont go back in the hose will not lock on. Once you have hose out simply cut out the bad part and reinsert to the end.
If this is too hard or some small parts go missing you will need a new hose.
You can get a new hose from NelsonVacuums.com.au

FRONT DOOR OF WASHER LEAKING

Hello. W/D here.

It's actually pretty easy to get it back on when you know the trick.

Since it has leaked on you, you may want to remove the seal off of the rim closest to the door and clean the rim and the sealing surface. The seal has a molded lip that fits on to a raised formed rim, and it gets pressed on snugly before the ring and spring are added. You can seat the seal by pressing on it all the way around with the palms of your hands.
To install the ring:
Start the ring 180 degrees from the spring, placing it in the groove behind the seal face. (You want to make sure that the seal is pressed back into place first). Work the ring on around the seal, until you get to mostly just the spring remaining. Now lever the spring over the lip and into the groove, using a small screwdriver, being careful not to damage the seal with the screwdriver.

Best regards, --W/D--

Metal ring aroound rubber seal fell off.

Start with the spring at the bottom, work the retainer around until the seal starts to pull away from the washer. Now grip the loop that the spring attaches to on the side that isn't in place and open the retainer. Push the retainer in place and release the spring.
