Sending/Receiving pictures and video messages on HTC touch through Alltel

I have just got this phone, did some reading and read that Alltel enabled MMS, SSM messaging for the Touch.
I received the phone and have not been able to send a picture by SSM/MMS as of yet. I called Alltel and they said it couldn't be done, while I've checked on forums and people are saying it can. It also has a huge picture on the back of the box which says you can send video and picture messaging (It's an Alltel HTC box)

I've checked my SMS/MMS Pics/Video settings and photo resolution is set at QQVGA 160 x 120 (Have switched it around a little, with no effect)
Server info

Name: Altel MMSC
Port Number: 8080
Server Address:
Connect Via: Alltel Wireless
Sending size limitation: 300k
WAP: 2.0

I would be EXTREMELY grateful to anyone who can help me here. I have unlimited internet/e-mail as well as unlimited messaging, so I'm wondering what could be wrong?

Thanks so much!

My Alltel HTC Touch doesn't allow my entire message to come in. It cuts off messages that are long.

Dont feel bad I have the same problem. Just to put it out there for any alltel employee reading this. If the Moto Q's cant send and receive pictures then ya'll need to quit lying to the customers, having us thinking we're actually getting what we paid for and we didnt. Now I paid a good grip for my phone so if Alltel dont want deal with no bitchy customers like me, they better fix the problem...QUICK!!!

Here is how to Send apicture mail... when you click on a picture to send choose an emailaccount and in the "To:" box type the following with the recipientsnumber in place of the MDN (depending on the recipients serviceprovider) :

Sprint :
Verizon :
Cingular :
US Cellular :
T-Mobile :
Nextel :
Alltel :
AT&T :
Boost Mobile :
Virgin Mobile :

Then just click send.

I know this response is a little bit late but...

I am not sure why Alltel customer service has told you that the HTC touch is not MMS compatible... I personally have had the phone since it came out (and I am an Alltel Employee) and I have never had any issues with picture messages. You need to call customer service and speak to someone in tech support or advanced tech support (ATS) and find out if there is something going on either with the codes on your account or with the switch itself...

Now I DO know that there was a software update that came out for that phone that you would need to go to to download... I HIGHLY recommend that if you still have this phone and still have these issues that you do the software update ASAP...

At this point in time there is not a single phone that Alltel sells that is not MMS compatible... some do not do video messaging but they all now do picture messaging!!

What many people do not seem to realize is that Alltel does not MAKE the phones... the manufactures do (ie Motorola, HTC, Blackberry, ect)

It was not JUST the Alltel Moto Q and Alltel Blackberry Pearl that did not do picture messaging (all CDMA versions anyway).. it was ALL Motorola Q's and ALL blackberry pearls!!!

I mean really.... WHY would it be beneficial for ALLTEL to sell Smartphone’s that do not function properly if a CDMA version of that phone DOES exist and DOES work properly?!?!

I Assure you guys... Alltel is NOT out to get YOU!!

The Motorola Q from Alltel is NOT capable of sending or receiving pciture messages! But the HTC Touch IS capable of sending and receiving pciture messges. I have an HTC Touch from Alltel and I have been sending and receiving pictures A LOT lately because I will be getting married in a few eeks and this was the best way that I could contact all of my bridesmaids at one time. I too had the Q and learned the hard way that it did not have picture messaging when I got engaged and people told me to send pics of my ring....The Blackberry Pearl from Alltel does not have it either...... My advise is when you go into the Alltel store and ASK does it receive and send pictures....

For the person who has the Touch..... Take the picture or select the pciture and at the top there should be an area where you can select a person to send it to... Put in the person's phone number and send it. I hope that helps.... Hopefully you won't have the problems that I have been having.... I am getting ready to be on my 3rd HTC Touch phone! (grumble!!!!)

Its not possible for any smartphone, that is set up thru alltel!! I have a Moto Q and have the same problem as well before with my Palm Treo 650. One of my friends who has a Q with Sprint told me that she can send pics or video messages but she used to have alltel and could not. The only way u can send pic/video messages MMS other then text messages SMS is thru bluetooth or email which is retarted why not just use a computer...I hate that fact but its a part of life u have to deal with. So.... if u want to send and recieve pics back and forth with friends u better not get ANY smart phone with alltel.

For anyone here who believes it is not possible for an ALLTEL smart phone, just go to your ALLTEL store. It is possible, it is easy, and it is OK if you cannot figure it out. Everybody is good at something different, right?

I have had four models of smart phones with ALLTEL, and had no confusion on the pic issue with any of them. Send fine/receive fine---every single one. It may be easy for me because I am an engineer, so don't waste your time 'figuring it out', just go to the store, and let THEM do their job!

Don't let technology kick your ***---let someone help you.

David, I just reread your comment. I am amazed that someone (many someones?) at Alltel told you it can't be done. Wow----it is so basic. I would need to walk you through it, my advice would have been to call Alltel. Now? My advice is to call Alltel, and find a USEFUL humanoid who cares about his/her job.

I have found in many customer-service situations that some employees just don't give a rat's ***. I used to accept the first answer, now I ask several different people, and you know what? Many times, I run into some employee that does take pride in what he/she does.

    Meanwhile, try this:

    1. Go to the Today screen (tap the windows flag icon, and then tap 'Today')
    2. Tap the Messaging option
    3. If you see 'Select an Account', select Pics/Video. If not, tap the tiny drop-down arrow to the right of the current messaging folder (top-left of screen), then select Pics/Video
    4. Tap the Menu option on the bottom right of the screen
    5. Tap 'New', then tap 'New Picture Message'
    6. Tap the To: field and select your recipient from your contacts, OR type their cell # where you see < ... >
    7. Tap the msg that say 'Tap here to insert a photo'
    8. Highlight the pic to send
    9. Tap the green checkbox icon on the bottom of the screen
    10. Tap the send icon.

My HTC touch did not let me send pics or video messages. I called alltel tech support an very luckily the person who helped me owned an HTC touch. She told me to go to the official HTC website an download an update. The website gives you step by step instructions. There is also a troubleshooting section where alot of other problems are addressed. Hope this helps it helped me.

Change language ,send pictures via bluetooth on touch diamond 2

In order to send pictures from your phone to other devices via Bluetooth, the following steps should be taken:
• Access your phones picture library
• View the picture you want to send
• Hit the menu button
• Select “Copy” from the menu list
• Chose “Bluetooth”
• Hit “Yes” when it asks you if you want to temporarily turn on Bluetooth
• Select “Look For Devices”
• Once your phone finds the device and lists its name, you select that device name
• The receiving device is then prompted to accept/reject my file
• Once accepted, the picture is sent (takes about two seconds)

Converting HTC PPC6800-US Cellular to Alltel-can this be done?

Yes, and No. Both companies want to see their cases on each phone (us cellular is actually blank). Alltel maintains a list of ESNs of all the phones they bought and sold in database. If your ESN aint there, they probably won't activate it.

But, the software for alltel versionof PPC6800 is located at
