My matsui flat screen tv has been working well for 3 years, then when I now switch on the picture comes on for about 2 seconds then goes to black screen, although the sound remains ok. It has not been dropped or knocked. Can it be fixed or do I bin it?.

I have the exact same problem,it once happened then i tried charging my remote control batteries and it worked for a day but now it does the same thing

Oct 9, 2012 - Brightness goes down, display draws less juice, and you can at least use .... it's the LCD's Inverter ... you have to replace it for it to go back to ... If the screen is turning off every two seconds or so and then it comes ... i turn my tv on it comes right on, but then after a few minutes turns off, .... Digital Trends for LG.

That is definitely a manufacturers error.
If it has been less than a year since you purchased it i would contact them.
They will send you to a service center. If it cant be fixed they will replace your tv.
It is all covered by them.
If it is past a year its honestly not worth fixing it,
You can find name brand 32 inch tv's for less than 250
while fixing it would cost around 150.
Anytime an LCD has a shade of pink, that means the CCFL lamps are about to go out. Now that you have a black screen, I'd say you just need some new bulbs.
I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
