Question about Whirlpool MH6150XM Microwave Oven

Re: microwave does not heat

Hi I have a Whirlpool over the range microwave model number MH6150XMQ0. Recently, it is not heating anything.  everything else seems to be working but everything stay's cold.  what's wrong? I've read that it could be electrical, or the magnetron but I don't want to spend $60-$80 to have someone come take a look and then spend another $130 for a magnetron.  It's out of warranty so total might be around $200.  should I just look into buying a new one or fix the old one (5 1/2 years old).

I have the same problem, same model and about 5 years old

Well almost the same. Microwave has an electrical smell, had a loud vibration when it was turned on, and I saw arcing in the bay that holds the magnetron, and transformer. It is about 6 years old. If I was in the repair business I would definitely replace the transformer, magnetron, and capacitor (don't see any diode in the parts list). But for myself, I would like to replace only the bad part. The electrical smell says transformer? The parts for all three items are over $300! Transformer is about $100. What to do?
    thx

Is very unlikely that there could be any other electrical failure since everything else seems to be working.
If you are able to fix it yourself then is way more cheaper just to buy the magnetron.
Click here to find the magnetron.
Before you do any work on this device, please click here to know how to discharge the high voltage capacitor and other safety concerns when working with devices that generate high voltages.
I would say is not worth it to spend more then $100.00 for a 5+ years old microwave.
Good Luck.

Own Whirlpool microwave model MH7100XY, everything works on it, however it does not heat anything, heard a small pop and after that it does not warm or cook anything?????

The pop sound is an indicator the magnetron is gone that heats the food. It is cheaper to replace the microwave oven than have it repaired.

We have GE JVM1650 spacemaker microwave. At first it would run for 3-5 seconds and turn off. More recently it stopped heating in the middle of the alotted time. Everything works fine, no keypad...

It's a bad magnetron.

Our whirlpool microwave does not heat. Everything

Hi!if your microwave does not heat, it only means that the magnetron is not working, try to look for busted fuse. or check the capacitor for leak, the hi voltage diode sometimes malfunction, and if all of the above mentioned are all ok maybe your magnetron is defective.

Everything works except the cooking part/no heating/turntable not turning, help!

you may have gotten a power surge and that can cause some funny things to happen, 1st is there power to the oven, 2nd if so there may be an internal fuse protector built in to the oven, check with the manual for anything of that sort listed. if not you may have to take it in and have it repaired by a pro. there is a lot of voltage in these ovens and unless you know what you are doing a person could get hurt
