Re: line appearing on mac ?
Hi Which Mac is this? It seems like if this is happening slowly and is permanent regardless of which application you are using you may have any number of problems. 1. is the screen is failing. 2. the inverter (to do with the screen). 3. possibly the video card. I am assuming this is the only problem with your Mac. You may need to take this in to get it looked at.

Are you tyring to play something off your laptop onto your TV? If yes then what you can see right now( Bigger picture of your laptop) that is correct. For no sounds try plugging in the speakers into the laptop headphone jack directly and then see it that works. If it does then the dvi-hdmi conenctor might have gone bad and needs to be replaced.
If you have other queires please reply back to this thread.
Parallels won't have caused this, Bootxchanger might have but it's not likely.
More likely is that you HD is faulty.
A largish number of white Macbooks shipped with faulty Seagate HD which, although fine to start with, started failing after about 1 year of use.
I've seen 3 in the last six months.
Thankfully the HDs in these MacBooks can be changed in just a couple of minutes, the bad news is that the data on the drive is generallycompletely destroyed.
Try starting up from your install DVD, but not do the install. After you get asked about language, at the next screen, go up to the menu bar and locate disk first aid. Run that - you may be lucky and it fixes it or you may not.
I'm sorry to say that you will have to replace the screen soon. That vertical black and white lines that appear is the early warning signs that your screen will soon go blurry, or have a partial screen, or have it just stop working. This happens from the many times the screen was lifted open and closed and the ribbon cables just need to be replaced. And since the ribbon cables can't be simply unplugged and then replaced, you will just need to get a new replacement screen.
