Question about Rival 38501 Smart Pot 5-Quart
Is the outside of the crock pot supposed to be so hot you cannot touch it?
Yes, it's not unusual for the outside to be too hot to touch. A slow cooker won't get as hot as a bare burner on the stove, but it still gets hot enough to cook meat. The outside has a bit of insulation, but it still may get hot enough to cause pain, melt a bread bag, etc. Be sure and place it where no one will accidentally touch it.
