Question about Sony CDX-CA600X CD Player

5 Answers

Bus control I have a Sony CDX-CA600X and I would like to install a 3.5mm jack socket for Mp3 alongside. when I connect the jack socket to audio in I cannot get the option from the source button to switch these audio in sockets on. I guess its something to do with the bus control socket. If you think so, what is the plug type and how should it be connected? Barry Dawson

I want to plug an audio signal into the 'audio in' sockets on the back of the unit,in the instructions it says that repeated presses of the 'source' button should bring up the CD changer as an option, but it just cycles between CD and radio. Maybe the other option only appears when something is plugged into the 'bus control' socket? Whatever, I'd just like to find out how to use the 'bus audio in' Which I would call 'line in' sockets.

You need to provide Clock n Data signal to activate Bus Audio Source. Actually this Bus Control Socket is to attach Multi Disc Player of Sony. Here is 2 pictures attached of bus related area for info. I am sorry, its difficult to hear MP3 sound at Bus Audio input in this model. Have nice day.

    Hello again,

You need to arrange +5 volts at pin-6 of buscontrol socket as stated in picture. 5 volts will turn ON buscontrol Input which is hidden/ Off now in your CD system.

Hope this will solve your problem.3

The reason you don't see the third option is that Sony did not want you to heve to skip over options that were not available. With the changer connected using the multipin cable, the feedback from the changer would esentially tell teh main system that it was available, thus placing the "changer" as the third option. Think of it as working similar to autoprogramming in a TV. Without the auto-program to get from channel 4 to 7, you would need to channel up through 5 and 6 before hitting 7. WIth auto-programming not detecting active channels for 5 or 6, the channel up would go directly from 4 to 7.

Hope this helps,
Dan

most aftermarket stereos have a yellow wire that needs to be connected to 12volt constant power in order to "remember" the clock and radio presets. Use a volt meter at the car to determine correct wire to attach to.

Cannot play my portable audio device with Sony cdx c500x

It will only accept audio from the bus in conections when a multi changer is connected and selected.

This is how I connect my mp3 player to my sony.

Swap multichanger audio outputs at the rear of the stereo for my mp3 player, press source to select multichanger.

Remember as I said, if there is not a control cable connected to your multichanger it wont wotk!

Audio in

Unfortunately, the "Bus audio in" jacks are only for use with Sony add-on components, like Sony CD changers. Without a Sony component connected to the Bus control jack, the audio input can't be selected. To add an auxiliary input to this head unit, you need to purchase an adapter: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-EMPSKmYtPsH/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?search=sony+aux&i=127AUXONS

Linking an i pod to a Sony CDX-MP40 using the bus input terminal

Some Sony head units let you use the Bus audio inputs as an auxiliary source input, but yours is not among them. To play your iPod through the head unit, you'll either need an iPod interface module: http://www.xplodsony.com/xplod/accessories/XA-110IP or an auxiliary input module: http://www.xplodsony.com/xplod/accessories/XA-300 The iPod interface will allow you to control and display the iPod directly through the head unit, while an auxiliary input adapter will allow the iPod to play through the head unit using the iPod's controls and display.

MD/CD Changer Control Options

press source button repeatedly to select "CD" or "MD" be aware that in order to connecting Ipod to a car stereo you will need to use an extension cable with 3.5 mm stereo connectors on each end to connect iPod to your car stereo system's aux input, or use a cassette adapter if your car stereo doesn't have a sound input jack. Either of these items can be purchased at stores that sell car stereo accessories. good luck!
