Yes, a wireless router should work fine.
You'll need a wireless-adapter (either internal PCI add-in card, or external USB stick) in your computer, if it does not have built-in wireless capability.

I lost my user name and password to windows xp professional. How do I create another password?

If you have lost windows password, the best thing for you is creating a password reset disk.Actually, when you add a password to your pc,the first thing you should do is creating a disk in case you lost the password. But how to make a password reset disk after you have lost the password ? Follow these
You need to prepare:
1:A blank CD/DVD or USB flash drive
2.A computer which can link to internet
3.A program called Windows Password Key
Then let's begin
Step 1.Login to a PC which can link to internet,Download and install the program from http://www.lostwindowspassword.com in that PC
Step 2.Run the program and burn to CD/DVD OR USB flash drive
Step 3.Turn to your locked PC,insert the newly create CD or USB to your drive.Reboot the Computer and then follow the instructions,it is very easy to use.

Lost the usb part and the set up disc for my device, what to do?

If you don't have the USB receiver that plugs into the usb port on your computer than the mouse will not work. If you only need the set up disk you can go to the microsoft web site and download the necessary drivers.

I recently bought a Maxtor 250 Gb One Touch 4 hard drive and lost the directions. I have a repair disc, but it has not instructions. There are two USB leads, red and black which completely confuses me. ...

My mom bought a similar device, the Red lead is the primary on hers the black lead is a secondary connection so it looks something like this:

_________=
------{=

where the = are the usb connectors

the first connection (red in my moms case is the primary it does some power and all data
the black connection (secondary) is to give more power if the usb port cannot provide enough power through 1 usb connector to fully power the device

I would suggest a usb wireless adapter. These are getting less expensive and not as confining as pcmcia network cards.

D-link router DI524 using next G external wireless modem

You can purchase a usb wireless dongle and attach to the PC. From then onwards you can set up a wireless network without connecting the usb cable for the router. The dongle will enable wireless capabilities on the pc. The only thing left is to have all devices running in the same workgroup.
