Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
55.1 is a DC controller error. You want to make sure the printer is pluged into a good power source with no surge protector. The manual says to upgrade the firmware on the dc controller and if that doesn't work the dc controller would need to be replaced. You can get the dc controller firmware upgrade at www.hp.com. then click on software and driver downloads. then model type and operating system. Then look for DC controller firmware upgrade. Download and follow the instructions in the read me file in order for more instructions to load into the printer.

You may have bent some pins when connecting the new tray unit or the wires in the connector itself are not making a proper connection. Try removing the connector from the tray 1 unit that connects to the dc controller and verify connectivity from the connector to the end of the cable within the paper feed unit. Make sure the
connector is plugged into the correct socket on the dc controller and that the cable di not get crushed between the chasis and the paper feed unit when you screwed it in as this could short the cable and also cause the error.

55.1 Error DC controller error.
The device has experienced an internal hardware error.
Turn off the power by using the power switch, wait at least 30 seconds, and then turn on the power and wait for the device to initialize.
If a surge protector is being used, remove it.
Plug the device directly into the wall socket. Use the power switch to turn the device on.
Check the engine (DCC) firmware version.
Update if needed. Replace the DCC if a firmware upgrade does not resolve the issue.
