Ibm wheelwriter 10 - setting impression pressure

When i press the code key and click on the q key the green lights for the impression pressure blink in order. but when i lift my fingers off the pressure always goes back to 1. How do i get the heavier pressures to 'stick'. All the other code keys work fine.

Thanks for clearing up the mystery about the impression mode vs space setting functions of those lights.

Is there a place on this site where I can see what the solenoid plunger
is? Or could you describe exactly where it is? On my wheelwriter 10
series II I'm not sure what you're referring to. I think I see 2 or 3
solenoids but none of them have plastic caps. THANKS!

The lights have 2 functions when in the impression mode they tell you the impression, when releasrd they go back to indicating space setting. The imp. setting remains where you left the lights.

If you are getting light print try a little WD40 on the front and rear of the solenoid plunger they get gummy. If that dosen't help the plastic cap on the solenoid is propbly cracked,

How do you set up (or turn off) double spacing on an IBM Wheelwriter typewriter?

The older models have a key on the R. side that says line space, press that and the lights will change to indicate spacing.
On the later ones you must use the code key with with the line space key in green on the R. side.

Only part of a letter appears when typed

You can try code I to increase the impression but probably the print solenoid is gummy or the plastic solenoid is broken. We sell the caps with installation instructions for 20.00 includes freight. DickyO Cleveland Business Machines 216-241-0027
