Hi,
Need more info It's like asking how can I see in the dark.
1. Is it a laptop
2.how do you konw the power is on (light on front)
3.does it sou8nd like it's booting up?
4.did you check all the cables to see if there tight (both ends)
5.also the monitor power cable
6.it could be a bad video card (try removing and reinstalling the card)
7.if it's a loptop when you look at the screen from the side if you can see a shadow on the screen it's the back light for the screen. Posable cause bad wire gonig from laptop to screen or invertor that runs the backlight. you can buy invertors on the net for your computer. But putting it in or fixing the broken wire is not easy. Get on the net and search for some one who has info on step buy step instructions for replacing the inverter.

Help please, just replaced lid on emachines d620, all went well, just turned it on and screen is completely black. The logo shows very feigntly as it powers up, boots up fine but completely black screen.

It sounds like the cord connecting the lcd screen to the laptops motherboard has been disconnected. You will probably have to disassemble the screen portion of the laptop and reconnect the power wires.

What happens if your computer's screen turns black

Try restarting the computer - turn off from the power .. only if you got a blue screen and computer goes off - that will be a problem
but black screen could be a monitor or power issue ..
try to restart and check whether you get the picture or sound or both

When you star it is black screen and stay black

If nothing is happening, it is related to the power. Make sure that you are using a electrical outlet that is working (use a light to test). Unplug the power cord from the back of the computer, as well as from the wall socket, and then plug it back in with authority... making sure it has a good connection on both ends. You may also use another power cord (but rarely would be the cause of the problem). If there is no action from the power supply when you press the on button, then the problem must be with the power button or the power supply. I would lay odds that it is the power supply, replacement should cost about $30.

Hope this helps. Best Regads, -md

Lost power to screen, power cord has power

Ok well then you need to replace your video card if that is not the case then you also may need to replace your screen cause it sounds like your screen just took a dump and the only way to fix that is to get a new screen
