    1. Is your office on a domain?
    2. Is your laptop part of that domain?
    3. By "plug", do you mean USB adapter?

If youconnect to router via ethernet cable, then you should be able to access the router interface by typing in 192.168.1.1 in an address bar.

How can I get the router IP of my Linksys 2.4GHz broadband router?

The Linksys G router gives you both wired and wireless connections over a broadband Internet connect to create a local area network. The Linksys router is compatible with wireless G and B devices, through the 2.4-GHz wireless band. The wireless speed is at 54 megabytes per second and you can get 100 megabytes per second with a wired connection. You have to set up the wireless configuration on the Linksys before using it on your network.

Plug the router's power cable into an electrical outlet. Attach an Ethernet cable into the Internet port on the back of the router. Connect the other end into your broadband modem. Connect your computer to the Linksys G using another Ethernet cable. This Ethernet cable can go into any of the wired router ports. Open your Internet browser. Type "192.168.1.1" in the address bar and hit "Enter." This is your router's IP address and the home of its Web configuration page. Click "Wireless." Click "Manual." Alter your SSID, also known as your network name. You can change this name to any value that you want. You can also change the wireless channel if you are in an area with many wireless connections that may interfere. Click "Save Changes." Click "Wireless Security." Choose an encryption method to encrypt your wireless transmissions. WPA or WPA2 are common security protocols you can use in wireless networks. Input a network key, also known as the network password. Click "Save Changes."

I am planning to install a wireless router so I will have a wireless network in my office. My office computer is not wireless network ready. Will I therefore also need to install a wireless network...

If you would like to use your office computer "wirelessly", then yes you must purchase a wireless network adapter so that your computer and wireless router can communicate with each other.

If the wireless router will be installed relatively close to your computer, you can plug the computer into one of the ports located in the back of the wireless router.

Hi Support team, I use Modem Motorola SB100 with Linksys WAP54G, and DLink Wireless G DWA USB Adapter to connect to Linksys WAP from my PCDesktop. Connection from the PC to Linksys is ok but can't...

peter_picasa:

You cannot use a Wireless Access Point (WAP) to connect directly to your IPS's modem. A WAP does not provide the ability to share a single IP address on the internet like a router does.

Either return the WAP for a refund and buy a wireless router or buy an Ethernet wired-only router and plug the WAP into the LAN side of that router. You would then plug the WAN side of the Ethernet wired router into your modem.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I tried to hook up the linksy router but it keeps reading error 311 what does that mean.

Hello,
I am not sure as to where you see the error 311 at but the setup of a Linksys wireless router is fairly easy.
If the router is new out of the box there is little be done for initial connection. If you purchased the router from a friend or it is used, you might want to reset the router configuration to factory defaults. - Reset the router by unplugging the power from the back, press and hold the reset button with a paper clip or small narrow object. -Plug the power back into the router while holding the reset button. -Wait 5 secs before you release pressure from the reset button.
Make sure you have the cable from your DSL / Cabel modem plugged into the "Internet" port on the back of the router. (Almost all models will use DHCP to get an IP address from the modem, some times you must unplug the power from your cable modem and router. Next plug the power back into your cable modem and wait until all the lights on your modem on light up as normal operating. Next plug the power back into your Linksys router. This forces your modem and router to refresh communication with one another.)
To connect your pc to the wireless router it will be different depending on your Operating System (i.e. Windows 98, 2000, ME, XP, Vista, 7). There should be a wireless adapter down in the system tray either managed by windows or if you have a dell, hp, compaq, they each have their own wireless management software that has an icon down in the system tray ( Far bottom right corner). For most you can double click on the icon or right click and choose options or properties. This would allow you to maneuver to a "View Wireless Networks" button / tab. From the wireless tab you should see a unsecured wireless network called "Linksys" This should be yours depending on if you live close to neighbors that have out of the box setups as well. Just choose the wireless network with the best signal ( similar to cell phone signal bars), this will most likely be yours. You can double click the wireless network, or click once to highlight then click the connect button. Your operating system may prompt you that your are connecting to an unsecured wireless network, just tell it ok and it will connect.
Once you are connected this link can go into further detail as to how to secure your wireless network.

MY LABTOB WILL NOT SET UP VIRGINS D LINK WIRELESS ROUTER EVEN THOUGH THE VIRGIN SETTINGS ARE CORRECT

May I recommend you give Network Magic a try. Free to download and evaluate, you will find it here: http://www.purenetworks.com/nmlp/home-networking.php?gclid=CPua-J-J1J4CFVw55QodUi_Nrw&src=google&kw=network+magic+download

NM is excedllent at resolving connectivity issues as well as assisting with security and device sharing. Many other features as well. You may agree with me, it is well worth the couple $ to get the 5 license paid version after the eval period, though they seill allow you to use a lesser version for free.

Wireless network using usb modem

First thing that you have to do is to check if the wireless light on your linksys wrt150N is lit. If it is, then that means that it is emitting wireless signal so you can connect wirelessly.

Then, install your verizon usb mobile broadband card on your desktop. When you plug it to the usb port, a pop up balloon would show on your page which would say FOUND NEW HARDWARE. you could click on it and choose the CD-drive to install OR you can run the cd and have it install on itself.

After installing the usb, try to connect to your wireless network. Start > Connect to > and then click on the name of your wireless network.
