My pc desktop is showing a white screen when its on what should i do?

Is it an LCD monitor ?

When an LCD screen has turned completely white, there are three normal causes: the screen is defective, the video cable is not connected correctly, or the graphics card on the motherboard of the computer is faulty. You will need to troubleshoot these possibilities to determine which problem you have. If you are not experienced in working on computer equipment, you should not attempt to disassemble your LCD screen because you could easily damage it. Seek professional assistance unless you have experience working on computer hardware.

Disconnect the white LCD screen from the computer by unscrewing the blue monitor cable. Connect the working LCD screen to your computer by attaching its blue monitor cable to the same slot. If your computer display does not show on the functioning LCD screen, try rebooting your computer. If it still does not display, the problem is with your computer's graphic card on the motherboard. Seek professional repair assistance. If your computer display shows normally on the working LCD screen, proceed to Step 2. Unplug the LCD monitor with the white screen. Disassemble the rear panel of the monitor with the small screwdriver. Carefully separate the screws into piles so that you can keep track of how to reassemble the monitor. Locate the internal video cable, a gray cable with a plug on the end that connects to the main components of the screen. See Below for the References section for photos of the video cable for assistance. http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2008/04/13/laptop-lcd-screen-turned-white/ Unplug the cable, checking for any debris or blockage. Reconnect the cable firmly. Reassemble the LCD screen. Plug it in and connect it to your computer. If the screen is still white, you have a defective LCD screen. You will need to replace it or take it to a professional repair service for assistance. Hope this helps.

Ok when i turn on my aoc monitor colors like blue green red white pop up i can never use my desktop

I would suggest that you try another monitor. If the monitor continues to light up with these colors and you do not see your computer desktop, then I would tend to think that your computer may have a problem with the video card or driver. Do you get a message on your montor with words like "no connection" or "No signal". If so, this means that the monitor is getting no video signal from you desktop. Try disconnecting your monitor plug and removing power from the monitor in an attempt to reset the monitor. Try also to turn off and unplug your computer. Leave the computer unplugged for about 10 minutes and start it up again. This may reset your computer. If you monitor video cable will disconnect from the monitor, you may want to get a new cable. These cable do go bad sometimes and are available and inexpensive on Ebay.com

Try these ideas and let me know how you do.

If you found this answer helpful, please remember to leave positive feedback. If you need more assistance, let me know.

Thank You,

Brian

I have an Acer monitor, 24", and just bought an HP - Pavilion Desktop. Are they compatible? If so, what VGA do I need to connect the 2?

Of course they're compatible. All of the computers can have 2 type of monitor exits: VGA and DVI. You just need a VGA cable to connect the monitor to the computer.

I have a Dell Dimension 5100 and the monitor is showing a blank screen. The light on the monitor is flashing green. Everything else seems to be ok as I can hear it starting up.

Hello
Check the data cable (the cable from monitor to CPU), might gone loose, otherwise the monitor need be handled technically for repair.
Good Luck, feel free to contact for more assistance

I turn on my computer,no signal,telling me, something with the v g a,I get a new v g a,still,having the same problem...

Hi kymani,

Try this:> Click Start>right click my computer>properties>hardware tabb> device manager> scroll to Monitors> choose uninstall>ok. Reboot pc and windows will detect and install the software for your monitor, check to see all systems go. If this does not resolve the issue, repeat steps substituting "display adapters" for "monitor". You may need the install cd or downloaded(updated software) to proceed with the adapters, but, if I remember correctly, you won't need it, anyway, don't worry about losing things, everything is replaceable or re-installable. If you need assistance with down loading new software, please look for me in "find experts - anaanymous - ."
