PS3: I was playing a game when the console just cut off witha a red light blinking. I had the system on for about 10 minutes at the most. I tried to cut it back on and it would start to cut on but then cut back off. I did have it on for about 3 minutes before it cut off again. Now it is acting as if it is trying to cut on but nothing. Oh when it did cut on it said that it was inproperly powered down.

You have the infamous YLOD, aka. Yellow Light of Death. This is the number 1 cause of pS3's dying. It is an overheating issue linked to your CPU and GPU (the processor chips) You will need to find a local PS3 repair shop who can repair this. Do not try to attempt repairs seen on the internet yourself. You could make things much worse and render the unit totally unresponsive. The repair process takes about 3 hours.

IT CAN BE FIXED

It only stays on for ten minutes in a game:(

Does the system shut off afterwards? I would insert a game and in 5-10 minutes, the system would turn off and the red light would blink a bit. If that's the case, then it's a hardware failure. You'll most likely have to ship it in to repair it. Unless you can do it yourself.

My PS3 shuts down after about 10-15 minutes while playing a game. Overheating I assume. It last much longer when watching a DVD or streaming Netflx. I've opened it up cleaned the thermal paste, heated it...

How long did you heat up the chips with the heat gun?
What type of thermal paste did you use?
Do you get blinking red lights after it goes off?

As you see, there are many questions that need to be answered. If your system is blinking red lights you will need to have your board reflowed the proper way. Obviously you know a little bit of the relflow process and the best way to reflow the chips on the board is using infrared technology. If it comes on and stays on for a few minutes, it would be a good idea to save your data.

Playing any PS3 game and screen goes blank. red light on console blinks.

Common reason is your PS3 has overheated. Turn off system after removing game disc and let system cool. Clear any dust or debris from the vents and if possible, relocate PS3 to more open area.

While playing a game console turned off and game disc is stucked inside, turn power on and light turns green for couple seconds then flashes red and turns back off, no chance to eject game disc.

Hello,
When the power status light flashes red after using the PS3 system for 3 or more minutes and shuts off, the PS3 system has possibly over heated. This may be caused by poor ventilation or the vents may be blocked.
The blinking red light is infact a general hardware failure message. In this particular case, his hardware failure is with the blu-ray drive, that's why the system does not shut down until the drive is accessed. if the system is overheating, it will tell you so in the top right hand corner. It will say the system has overheated and is shutting down to avoid further damage.
Provide a proper vent for the system...
Hope this will help...

Ps3 keeps going to a red blinking light instead of green light

It's possible you could have blown the power supply, or your PS3 has overheated. Make sure your console is in a well ventilated area due to it's heat producing hardware. If the player does not come on at all anymore, flip the switch in the back to the off position, unplug your power cable, wait ten seconds, plug it back in and turn the switch to the on position. If your red LED light is on in the front of your console, than it's getting power. If this still does not help you turn it on, you may of other issues that a certified PS3 technician will have to help you with. Hope this helps. :D

Uncharted 2 only game that shuts down my 60 GB PS3

It seemed as if you were getting the symptoms of the "blinking red light of doom" but luckily you didn't.And VERY VERY good thinking on the back up (i never thought of it and i almost lost all my data).
I hope your new hdd runs a 5400rpm and NOT 7200rpm.
Facts:
1. A 7200rpm hdd will make system over-heat.

2. System run hotter (and in most cases of red light of doom) are HIGH graphics games such as MW2 & UNCHARTED 2.

3. Systems will last longer and cooler with an external fan that runs off its on power from a power outlet(not run off the power of the ps3!!!!)

I hope I have helped and please feel free to ask any questions GOOO UNCHARTED 2!!

Red light green light yellowlight red blinking light

From what I understand its a problem with the backwards compatibililty(the engine/drive that lets you play ps1/ps2 games)on the 60g.Sony says they have never heard of this problem yet these models are no longer in production.I have had mine for 2 years and it died today, same problem.
