i dont really think we need a router with this bcoz if u are using a Windows Vista OS, a modem is not comaptiable wit it, so jus check yr router , & must be a sure issue with the Filter or the phone socket.
If you are having problems with call outs its a problem with the connection of your vonage phone line, if you are using a filter double check it, about a router in the modem.. to verify that information, observe the connection of the modem if the cable at the back is connected directly to the back of your computer tower.. or if there is another modem-like box between your modem and computer connection, if so.. meaning there is a router..
aside from having problems with your vonage fone.. are you experioencing internet connectivity problems?
You might want to check with your provider to make sure that they haven't changed anything. Power cycle the modem, and even perform a hard reset if possible, usually by means of a small button on the back of the box.
Of course you could have just got a bad modem, and in that case, it's just as easy to take it back where you bought it.

No connectivty problems, cable goes directly to the cpu when the vonage device is not connected.
