Question about Dell 5650 Computer Speakers

1 Answer

Driver I had to slick my hard drive and reload everything. However, my internet and audio didn't work. A guy from Clearwire told me that Dell does not put those drivers on disks when they put your computer together. I got the internet working but can't seem to find the right driver for my MMS 5650. I even typed in the tag but it couldn't find it. Help!!!

There are no drivers for the speakers, you need an audio driver installed for you sound card.

http://support.dell.com

Your system will either have an on-board sound card (Sigmatel normally) or a soundblaster expansion audio card. (If the audio jacks are in an expansion slot below the video card, then you have a soundblaster.

Soundblaster drivers are found at http://www.creative.com

My daughter had the same trouble with her Dell computer. The guy who was reloading Windows found the additional drivers on the Dell website.
The Dell recovery disc supplied with a new machine already contain those drivers.

I recently wiped my hard drives and reloaded XP Pro and did all the windows updates including service padk 3. The computer has a motherboard sound device and not an expansion sound card and the motherboard...

I hope the problem isn't with your speaker. Have you tried the speaker on another computer or on a DVD player etc..? If it works, well can you adjust the sound from the sound settings or from the "Sound" icon on the Taskbar on your Desktop? If you can't adjust sound from Sound Settings (under control panel) or from the Taskbar's sound icon, then you might have missed to install the sound driver. Try reinstalling the sound driver and make sure the installation is successful. I also hope that you didn't do anything on your motherboard. You can also try plugging in the speaker jack to the front audio port or to the rear or vice versa. These are the things you may try at the moment. Let me know if you need further help.

Good Luck.

If everything is grayed out in the audio devices property in the control panel, that means there's a problem with your audio driver, first step I would take is to reboot your machine, hopefully it will come back.

If that fails, most Dell computers come with a Application CD, put the CD in the CD rom drive and have it reload the audio drivers back in.

Also make sure your speakers are plugged into the green port on back of your computer

No aduio device dected

ok first goto start, settings control panel. goto system then hardware then device manager, anything in this list with a yellow explanation mark nice spelling a thing like this ! right click it and goto uninstall. then make your way down to sound and video game controlers , look at the list in there and take note of each sound card driver, meaning write them down, then remove them all.

restart your pc and hopefully it will bring all the cards back in use the net and so on to find the other drivers if it dont .but it should. then try your sound. hope this helps

I have no sound coming from my speakers , it s telling me I have no audio output device is installed.Everything is plugged in .

Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Classic View
Click System
Click the Properties tab
Click Device Manager
Expand the "audio" branch of the tree.
Do you see an audio-device? Probably not.
Do you see an "Unknown Devices" branch of the tree?
If so, expand that branch, and double-click the "unknown" device.
Click "Reinstall Driver".
If asked whether you want to search the Internet for the software-driver, click "Yes".
Windows will install the drivers for the "audio device".

My speakers on my Dell computer quit working.

1) check audio driver is installed in system or not it may have some one remove audio driver.
2)If driver installed check volume is not mute.
3)If all thing is ok check speaker in another system by connecting it.
4) If spk is working in another system. it means sound card of that system is faulty.
