I recently moved to a new house im sharing. My pc has a Airnet wirless adapter installed. It was working fine at the last place I was renting.

My pc detects the owners signal and connection. It shows me there Connection name and it shows me that the signal strength is very good..I have the network key that they have provied me however I get zero connection. When I try to do an IP config I dont even get an ip address or a 0.0.0 all i get is Media is disconnected.

It is possible that the encryption the router is using is not one supported by your wireless card or OS. Older 802.11 cards do not support WPA and Vista Systems will not connect to WEP.

See if you can get the owner to disable wireless security for troubleshooting, and see if you connect UNsecure. If you can connect with security disabled, then it is time to look at what security your wireless supports and ensure that other wireless restrictions on the router are not blocking the connection (Limits on IP addresses, MAC address filtering etc)

Dell dimesion wont turn on at all

So it doesn't power up at all? I'm only asking because you said it's not the connection.
If it doesn't power up, open the box and reseat everything, something may have come loose during the move.

I just brought this computer to my house from my girl friends grandmas house speakers and all worked fine now i plugged everything in the the exact speakers that were on it are plugged into it and the...

Assuming something in the computer didn't mysteriously go bad during the move, there are two possibilities. First, make sure the signal cable from the speakers is plugged in to the right place. You may have plugged it into the microphone input or line input jack by mistake. Second, be sure the speakers have power. Most speaker systems require AC power, either from a plug-in adapter or a built-in supply that needs an AC connection. (Some newer systems come with USB-powered speakers that don't need an external adapter.)

A remote possibility is that in the move, the speakers got bumped enough to disturb connections on the circuit board inside. The amplifier chip in the speaker case gets hot (especially if the volume is turned way up), and the heat can degrade solder connections, and sometimes cracks form. The move may have caused connections that were iffy to go bad. But this isn't very likely.

You'll probably find it to be a very simple missed connection. Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya!

Lost install cd

The reason your computer doesn't recognize the adapter is because you don't have the drivers that come with the CD.

So, in order for you to get this working, click HERE

Then, download the driver by saving it to your disk. If you don't have internet access on that computer, you can download those files to a flash drive, or burn them to a CD. Whichever you prefer.

Good Luck :)

How do I make the S6300NX connect wirlessly?

Purchase a USB wireless adapter, install the software then plug it in when the software tells you to.
You should now be able to connect to wireless networks.

I recently moved house and got virgin media to install phone tv and broadband. Connected the modem through Ethernet. Worked fine....then the PC froze and when I restarted, start up message was "PORT...

That's fantastic, but other than blaming either Virgin or your new house for the PC problem, not terribly instructive.  What's this about a modem...you mean you connected your PC to Virgin's cablemodem using cat5 ethernet, which is pretty normal?

Give exacting circumstances (e.g. timing after the BIOS and Windows screens came up) and descriptions of the error messages, and people can help out, especially if you go create a new problem under your exact PC model, and try to suss out the problem by googling for 'Port 00 error' and your model.

As it is it sounds like Windows found bits of itself missing (as moving vans can cause sectors to go bad on HDs) and vainly hoped you would have the Windows 98 or XP install CD handy to fix things.  It is probably time to install a new hard drive and appropriate OS of your choice, and copy info over from the old drive before labeling and packing that thing for spare use.
