Select 'Troubleshooting' and press OK. Select 'Print Quality Problems' and press OK. Press and hold the 'Up Arrow Button', and then press the 'Back Button'. Select 'Turn Jet Substitution Mode Off' and press OK. Note, if jet substitution has not been enabled, the option to turn it off will not be available.
Hope this helps.

I have tried to run the light strips program, have one color, magenta which is not filling in.

Use the Jet Substitution mode to compensate for missing jets.

If you have three jets missing in a row the jet substituion won't help
and a printhead replacement would be necessary.

One last thing is it the "SAME" jets missing after each LST (Light stipes
Test) or are they changing?

Possible to block one jet in Phaser 8200???

Block a jet or do you want to do a jet substitution?
If you go to Xerox.com. select support and drivers, then in the search box type in 8200, then go to drivers and downloads you should find a Jet Snippet. It will allow you to substitute jets. I think that is what you are referring to . It should not slow the computer though.

Clean an 8400

Replace the maintenace kit and then in the menus run eliminate light stripes and eliminate smears.
There really isnt much else to do.
What you do when you run the light stripes and smears modes the machine removes all the ink from the print head, turns on a compressor and blows out the jets on the print head.
There really isn't a "cleaning " procedure as with a laser printer. If the maintenance kit is good, it pretty much maintanes itself.

I have a phaser 8400 banding problem. Actually reverse banding. It is ligher ink vertically along left margin and an inch from right margin. Is this a drum problem? It notes I am low on ink and have only...

nope its not a drum problem, That drum never goes bad. You are having a problem with some blocked jets in the print head.
You can scroll through your menu to troubleshooting and there are cleaning modes to eliminate light stripes and to eliminate smears.
Run the eliminate light stripes maybe 2 or 3 times. If that doesn't work, then try the jet substitution mode.
That is better described at Xerox.com, click support, then enter phaser 8400 in the search box, click support again and then enter
"jet" in that search and follow the directions.
If those do not work then your print head is most likely bad. Thats more likely if you have used non xerox ink sticks.Being low on ink should only give you a message that its low.

Jet substitution

You want to try something different.

1. Go to www.xerox.com
2. Click support and drivers.
3, In the search box type in Phaser 8400.
4. Select Drivers and downloads.
5 Scroll down and find Jetfix snipit, and download that, follow the procedure, maybe more than once.

The price from Xerox is $750 plus labor to replace the print head.
You can also look up service dealers in your area on the xerox website. Most will get you the print head and labor much cheaper. I emphasise the MUCH portion of cheaper...

Xerox Phaser 8400N Printing Stripes

When you go into the eliminate light stripes there is also a mode called Jet Substitution. You can sometimes bypass the bad jets.
If that does not work then the print head will most likely need to be replaced.
You can replace the printer for less than the cost of a print head normally..

Xerox Phaser 8400 light stripes

Your print head is in ned of replacement.
If you have done all you have, not much more that can be done.
You can try running that eliminate stripes a few times, and also in that area try the Jet Substitution, and see if you can open new jets to bypass the blocked ones.
after that, your print head would need to be replaced.
Wish I had a better and cheaper answer.

Xerox Phaser 8400 Streaking

You can go into the trouble shooting menu and do the "eliminate Light stripes" procedure a few times.
Then you can do Jet substitution from the same menu.
If that does not work then most likely you need a new print head.
If you have used non xerox ink sticks that is your most likely cause of the problem. cheaper is not always better

Go to this site and download the Jet Snippet software. It will substitute the clogged ports with better ones. May have to run it a few times to work.

Clogged print head

What you can try is going onto the Xerox.com site and loading what is call Jet Substitution it will change the ports being used.
That could help.
Load it to your laptop and then run. Sometimes helps.
Unfortunatly that is a very expensive print head.
