It is mounted to the case that holds the lamp.. Its specs read something like L3 250V, 5A, 115C. You can replace it provided you can locate it

What is a thermal fuse

Fuses fall in several shapes and forms.

All for example 3 amp fuses are not the same--some are quick acting, some slow blow, and some thermal--react faster than the first two types.

The model listed here for example has at least one glass fuse but has several pico fuses also--they do not look like fuses in this set but are marked with amperage next to them--in the case of these types NEVER replace them with a glass fuse.

IF you have the model listed above let me know what is wrong-- I know them very well.

note the green parts--the two that are circled in this Mitsubishi board go to the convergence circuit and can be tested like any other fuse--amperage is marked on top of board along with a location number.

In this set if one of the two circled ones is bad set will not come on and when a self check is done it will have a 2,2 error code.

Yes, likely either when you replaced the fuse a plug got pulled or check main menu in set to make sure speakers did not by accident get turned to OFF----if sound when something is connected to rear inputs set is ok--some audio setting on set or a sat or cable box is off.

I have a sony 65 in rear projection TV, model no. KP-65WS510. I believe the thermal fuse needs replacing, but I cannot locate it once I opened up the back of the TV. Where should I look to find the part...

Your model is a three CRT projection which doesnt have a thermal fuse. What are the symptoms of the set? Does the power indicator blink? If so how many times is it blinking?

I have a sony KDF-50we655 TV first the lamp when out, then I replaced that, now it will just turn off then on and this will continue till it stays off

If the stand by light is blinking 6 times, it is the "Thermal Fuse", cost is about $4.95 shipping could be $15.00, if you take it to a technician you will pay around $300.00. It is easy to do it but depends how patient and skilled you are. The thermal fuse burn out when your tv ventilation is defective due obstruction on the vent and ventilator, due dust, hair etc. Make sure you clean very well everything inside and out when replacing the thermal fuse. Please check with your manual about description depending of the light blinking and times blinking.

When I turn the power on all I get is a blinking green power light and nothing else. The lamp is new.

Have you checked the thermal Fuse that is located right above Lamp? These sets had problems
with Thermal Fuse. Is all of the Fans working ? Lamp Fan?
Ballast board is what powers Lamp on. You need to also check 2 thermistors, they are known to be bad.

Tv shut off itself red light blinks 6 times. will not turn back on

In most cases, your set has an open Thermal Fuse. I don't have a parts list handy, otherwise I would give it to you for reference as you shop for it.

It's not labor intensive at all to do. In fact, it's pretty straight forward as, if my clouded mind can recall, the thermal fuse in this set sits directly next to the light engine and right under the lamp housing.

You could do some research at or a similar site for your set's model # and the keyword of "thermal fuse."

However, once that thermal fuse goes in, you should be back up and running.

You will also want to check all fans in the set while you're there to make sure you don't have any clogged fans. Clogged fans can cause the set to overheat, and scenarios that involve overheating can lead to thermal fuses blowing again and again.

Best of luck.

6 blinks no pic no snd.

The 6 blink error usually means the thermal fuse has opened up. You will need to have a technician look at the TV as most likely there is a build up of dust in the cooling fans which caused the temp to go a little too high which ultimately opened the thermal fuse.

The lamp is going bad. If it was the thermal fuse it would not be intermittent. It is very common for some Sony sets like yours to do exactly what you describe when the lamp is going bad.

Sony KF-50WE610 Tv won't turn on, red light blinks 6 times

3 times means Lamp and 6 means you have lost a voltage. You may have a thermal fuse blown.
This set has a common trouble with overheating caused by the drum fan located on top of the lamp housing clogged up with dust. When the lamp is getting old it runs hotter and that combined with the fan being clogged the thermal fuse blows. You must replace the lamp and thermal fuse. You must also clean out or replace the lamp fan. This drum type fan should be cleaned out every year or two depending on the environment.

What is the part # for the thermal fuse?

Fuse is located on the G board. (board part no : A-1316-566-A)

Here you can download service manual and part list.

See part list.Fuse and fuse clips are F6001 and FH6001, pn 1-576-193-11

Here you can find replacements, if you do not find your model in list call them at 1-866-925-PART (7278)

Here instead you can get parts directly from Sony.

Always unplug power one hour or more before working on your TV.
If you have not worked on TVs before call a technician.
