I can't tell you who makes it but I've had a RW 4x4x24 for a few
months and have made one coaster (my fault) and 50 data and music cds.
I have an old win95, p133 so I can only burn at 2x, but it has been
working fine.

is based on the Teac CD R-55S. I've had no problems at all with it using
EZCD 4.02 and Nero. The only coasters I've made have been my own fault. I
can't burn "on the fly" though but I don't believe that is the fault of my
writer but of my cdrom.

It seems to be a big secret, or maybe because it came out during S&F's
bankruptcy noises. No one seems to know for sure. My best guess is it's
a JVC. Anyway, seems to work fine, just hope we won't need a firmware
upgrade, unless someone finds out for sure or wants to sacrifice a drive
for experimentation.

people told me Smart and Friendly cd writers are made by various OEM
companies like sony, yamaha and hp. could some one tell me which
manufacture makes the "Smart and Friendly Speed Writer RW 4x4x24" drive?
if any one has used this particular device or S&M cd-rw's in general, tell
me about it's quality.
