Hi-
It's tough to tell what you mean by your description.
From your text, I can see three different possibilities:
1. The card cannot physically seat into the camera.
>> A. Check the card first.
If the card has any debris in or around the contacts/the pin slots, it can damage your camera. Replace it.
>> B. If you do not see any debris, and you have another camera or card reader available, see if that other device can read the card.
If it seats there, the issue is in your camera, and there may be something lodged in the card slot, or a broken mechanism. Clean out any debris, and service if you cannot easily and gently resolve the problem. Remember that there are sensitive electronics there, so avoid contact with the pins, etc.
2. If the card can physically connect, but the camera cannot read the files, it may simply be that there is data from another device on the card which is not readable by this camera. These will not harm the camera, and will not interfere with taking more pictures. Be carreful, though. If you want those pictures/files, be sure to use a card reader to transfer them before you format the card. If the camera cannot read the files, it may also not transfer them to your system when you try to download. They would be bypassed, and lost at format.
Good luck.
