Question about PC Laptops
So I have been having trouble with my gateway M-1624 laptop's built in web cam. It's originally a chicony usb 2.0 webcam with a 1.3 megapixel and maximum resolution of 640x480. So here is the problem my webcam's lighting is fine when it is in night mode but the frame rate is low. the gateway camera assistant claims that it's running at 30fps no matter what resolution it is set at but it seems like it's running at 1.5fps. Also when night mode is deselected the camera runs at a descent frame rate but its too dark I cannot see anything but a light in the background.

Low Light slows framerate to achieve more light for the pictures... if you need to replace your webcam you can find some useful info here

I don't know what the deal is with gateway's performance monitor, but the low frame rate is normal for web cams (and digital cameras in general) in low light situations. I would recommend just getting a cheapy desk lamp and forget about the night mode if possible.
