I have a CRX100E CD-RW drive running under win98. The drive has no problem reading a prerecorded disk (audio or data) but fails to recognize a blank disk (CDR or CD-RW). I am new to CDR's, is there something very basic that I could be missing? Does a blank disk need to be formatted before it can be used? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What, if any, SW have you installed for the CD-RW drive?

What are you trying to do with the blank CD? There is nothing ther to read but the CD's characteristics, and to do that you should have CDR-Diagnostics or Feurio.

Windows cannot recongnize a blank CD in My Computer or Explorer. You'll need a CD recording program can recognize a blank CD. The CRX100E usually comes with disc with orange circles called "CD Complete." Try installing the software first.

Anybody know how to disassemble the La Cie Porsche CD drive external case? It appears to be a snapped-together design. I'd like to replace the drive inside without breaking the plastics. It seems like it might be somewhat like opening an iPod, or Mac Mini. Suggestions?

GX-1 write files to CD, not all files in the list being written to the disk. Disk has sufficient space and ink is full. Also when printing labels it will print the first few with labels and following assignments in same queue will not have labels.
