Well, testing for continuity means testing an electronic part with a Multimeter, to check that the component is not burnt.
If you do not know what this is, do not attempt repairing the microwave by yourself, there are too many hazards involved, it is an operation for an experienced electronic repairman.

about the fault, generally, if your microwave never heats it is the magnetron.
In your case, as it seems to work on certain programs, the repairman need to test the power diode, and check that the program control is working, testing the timer contacts. also burnt capacitor may cause heating problems.
The whole thing should be around $60.
Check if your microwave is under guaranty cover and if it is worth repairing.

Without that essential information, I can only give more general advice.

I would ask for additional information, but FixYa no longer notifies us experts when such inquiries have been answered.

If it's a GE with a model number something like JVM1861BW001, etc., I repair those boards for such problems.

I have a kitchen aid khms 1850 microwave. When setting idle it continues to make a small rumbling sound and after 30 minutes it smells like something is overheated. I'll unplug it after a day and will...

That is the sound of the magnetron failing. The large capacitor inside may also be drying up and causing the sound. When the capacitor dries up further it will start blowing fuses.

Fan continues after microwave has stopped. Is this correct

I think this is rather like a normal oven and iscooling it. My oven is a combination oven and new to me I haven't read all the instructions yet but it seems to make sense. I should really look and see if this is on a combination programme though.

Try re-programming from the menu: things like time/temp since these typically let you know something changed in how the unit was put into service. Maybe an electrical shortage or power outage caused the unit to trip. Re-set functions.

Buttons dont work on danby microwave

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour.

If it still isn;t working I would contact Danby Customer Service US / Canada.

Shuts off but everything else works

If the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

If it stops after 22 seconds, that means the controller has detected a problem, usually a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

You can find an authorized Panasonic servicer here.

The oven will also strop after 22 seconds if there are certain problems with the inverter or magnetron.

In most cases, this is a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.
