42" panasonic viesta plasma tv cuts off after about 30 minutes

It cuts off after maybe 30 minutes. If I unplug it for a while I can turn it back on and it will cut off again in about 30 minutes. When this happens I also noted the little red light by the power switch on the tv blinks 8 times then pauses and blinks 8 times and so on... This tv is only about 14 months old.

I am having the same problem except it turns off every 15 minutes. It is less than 2 years old. I did not expect something like this to happen to a Panasonic TV! Paid a lot of money for it...and would not expect this from Panasonic. Is there a part that we can order to fix it ourselves?

I too have this problem. The t.v.is relatively new. It shuts itself off - sometimes within seconds of turning it on. Sometimes it will run for 15 min or so. The little red light blinks eight times, then will stay red for a couple of seconds, then will return to blinking eight times. Needless to say, this expensive unit cannot be depended on at all.

I too have the same problem with the same tv. Mine also is just over a year old. After a bad experience with a Phillips I bought this Panasonic because of their dependability.

Mine just periodically shuts off and then in a minute or so you can hear it click twice and then

you can turn it back on.

Adjust the automatic shut off settings on the set using the menu system. the newer models are programmed to shut down to avoid the burn-in problem associated w/ plasma scenes.

The "D" board will have to be replaced in the unit to fix that issue.

Hello gws51,

This sounds like a shutdown circuit proble, which is caused by the draw of excessive current. I would suggest that you have a qualified TV repair person look at you set and repair it.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

Panasonic 42 tcp42x3 plasma tv turns off after 5 minutes solid red ligh no blinking will turn back on if I unplug and plug back in but off in 5 mins again

The fact if unplugged etc and tries to function means a micro related problem---if unplugging all units for a while does not change this then suspect a power supply or main board (controls all functions).

Actually have the 50in same model, TV power goes off after on for 30 minutes and takes 10 minutes to turn back on. Sleep timer is off.

If the problem is same with different input devices and you have ensured there are no loose contacts in power outlet, RC jack, cable and sockets, the TV needs servicing.

I have a 1 1/2 year old Panasonic TC-P42U1 plasma tv. While watching a show, it suddenly shut off and won't come back on. What do you think caused this and how can i fix it? Thanks.

Try unplugging it completely for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Plug it back in. If it still won't come on, it's likely taken a power surge and popped a fuse or power supply, which means a trip to the service center.

Panasonic TH-50PX60U Plasma TV no red color

I had the exact same problem. Thought it was the tv, but it was the cable between my cable box and the tv. Try unplugging the cords and plugging them back in, color was restored.

Panasonic plasma

If you open the back, look at the can shaped items. If any of them have the tops bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should solve your picture problem, unless there is something else wrong. What is happening,is they are heating up,and the picture goes out.I bet the longer you have the TV off,the longer it stays on?Hope this helps.Thank You very much!
