Question about Norelco Advantage 6705 X Electric Shaver

1 Answer

Norelco shaver won't turn off

After replacing the battery, the on/off button no longer works properly. The shaver is always on, pressing the button only causes it to go from a high speed to a low speed, but never off. Seems like it would be a short circuit, but I checked around the solder connections and didn't see any. Has anybody else had this happen?

You should check the switch behind the batteries. You likely dislodged the piece of plastic that presses on the switch. It's simple to place back properly--if that's what the problem is.

Where can i take my Braun 6520 to have the battery replaced?

If your shaver works but will not longer hold a charge as long as it should, the batteries need to be replaced. If the shaver is dead and the green indicator no longer illuminates when plugged in, you have waited too long and the circuit board is now damaged and can not be repaired.

It is advised that you change the batteries when you realize that they are no longer charging properly. Most likely, only the batteries need to be changed but it is possible that you have caused further damage due to leaving it plugged in continuously and the batteries may hae become corroded or leaked.
If you decide to attempt to change the batteries, you will fin the correct type at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

I have a Braun 5550 electric razor that no longer holds a charge. i believe the battery can be replaced but I cannot see how to remove the battery. Can you advise?

You can repair the shaver by replacing the batteries only if the shaver still works. If the shaver no longer does anything...will not run and light does not illuminate when plugged it, the circuit board is now bad and can not be repaired.

To open the shaver, remove the two plastic screw covers on each side of the hole where the cord plugs in on the bottom of the shaver. Remove the two screws underneath. You can then slide the entire outer case off of the shaver. Be careful not to disturb the trimmer as it is extremely difficult to reattach. Inside, you will see a black inner cover. Unsnap to remove it and access the circuit board and batteries.

You will find compatible batteries at shaveroutlet.com. You need two. See link below for item and scroll down for helpful installation video

The shaver doesn't work when the button is pressed. I even charged, but doesn't work. Maybe the button is broken, or inside of it is broken.

Ok, it looks like it could be one of two things. Either the battery is not holding a charge after you charge it, which you would know because it will have some power to it. The most likely scenario is that unfortunately the wires that need to connect to make the Cruzer 2 power "on" are faulty and no longer connected properly. You have a few options: 1st, they offer a two year manufacture warranty. I suggest you take advantage of that provided you still have the original receipt. They may even help without a receipt. The other option is to take it to an electronics person who can soder electronics. If you want to do this cheaply or even free check out your local technical colleges. It is worth a shot and either way should be free or inexpensive. Good Luck!

The battery on my Remington MB70 trimmer is no longer hold a charge. Can the battery be changed to perhaps an Li-ion variety?

The charging system in your trimmer is not designed for lithium ion batteries. Installing a lithium ion battery could cause fire and/or personal injury. You should always use the same type battery that came in the shaver originally

Norelco 985rx Overheats upon charging..

You should always use the same type batteries that your shaver was designed to be used with. Your shaver was designed for use with NiCd batteries. If you have use NiMH batteries this may be causing the problem you described.
However, I would say that it is more likely that you have some sloppy solder that is bridging something that is not supposed to touch. You should check the battery solder joints on the circuit board and clean up any sloppy solder work that may be there.

The braun 5510 shaver.. rechargeable or not

If working properly, model 5510 will work either from the internal rechargeable batteries or directly from the cord. If your shaver no longer recharges, it needs to have the rechargeable batteries replaced.

if the shaver is DEAD and the green light no longer illuminates when you plug it in, the circuit board is almost certainly bad. The circuit board will burn out if you run the shaver from the batteries for a long time after the batteries have stopped charing properly.
you can purchase a new circuit board which has the batteries alrady on it. it just needs to be dropped in place inside the shaver.
you will find this part at shaveroutlet.com. see link below
