Sounds like the green CRT ( picture tube) is shorted. Please respond to this same post with the model number of your set and I will try to help you out with your problem.

How do i find the capacitors? Because my p61940 wont turn on...it tries but only makes a noise and shuts off! Is the tv even worth keeping? Is it a cheap fix?

Good morning
as to your question if it's worth keeping most of these sets have fantastic pictures and are still out there working away . however that's a personal call if your ready for a new set .
its most likely a fly-back transformer its most likely a high voltage splitter block that has failed its accessible from the front behind the speaker grill and a center door its part no is 240619 and can be tricky in getting the wires back in so there is no arcing from the high voltage if you have to call a repairman expect around a 200 repair bill

TV comes on n goes off, does 3 times

This is the Famous 3 strikes and out for RCA's--it tries to come on 3 times and if fails shutdown occurs.

The high pitched sound may be a short or could be something arcing--if the sound comes from near the very front of set--could be the HV splitter this set has arcing.

My television makes a screeching noise and you can see a light in the front, it won't turn on

Whoever seabelow is, doesn't know about tv repair. You have a projection tv with 3 picture tubes. It doesn't have a color wheel. Maybe he is a tv salesman needing commission. Anyhow your tv has a major problem. The sqreeching noise you hear is probably a picture tube arcing. What happens is connections on the circuit board break free and the high voltage goes too high causing the tube to fail and spark. If you want to confirm this you can remove the rear cover which uses star type screws. Then remove the 6-8 screws from each side by speakers. Pop off front cover and remove small door in middle of set. Get extension cord and stay back from set. When you plug it in and apply power you will see which tube is arcing. Unfortunately, if this is a correct diagnosis, you will probably end up replacing the set unless you find a used picture tube to replace the bad one. Even then you still need repair to the deflectoin pcb. This is about a 400.00 repair. Sorry for the bad news but I though you at least deserved a compitent response. Good luck, Russmann.

Projection tv not working

I guess loud sizzling was from High Voltage Splitter in your TV. HV seems cracked and leaking high voltage.

You can observe and confirm it by removing back cover and power up TV from distance and check at rear of TV. Please take care and there should be little dark to observe arc from HV splitter.

If this is the case, HV splitter available in Part Store.

D52W19 No pix, sound good - now green light blinks, no come on

First of all you need to find out which CRT leaked and replace it before any other repairs are done. The clear liquid is conductive and has done damage to the CRT board or boards.

Panasonic PT-53WX54 What is that popping noise?

A loud popping noise, like a sharp "snap!", is usually caused by high voltage arcing. Somewhere in the high voltage system an insulator may be cracked or loose, such as the plastic around the flyback transformer or one of the rubber cups on a picture tube. When the high voltage arcs, it momentarily drops and the picture could go out for a split second. High voltage is dangerous in projection sets so allow a qualified tech to service it for you.

No Power and beeping noise in circuitry

had a 51" rca rear projection donated to myself. While off and power button pressed there was a clicking noise from the front of the unit. Rear cover was removed and it could be observed that the hv splitter had a crack in the casing and the power was arcing out of the splitter. I purchased a $72 dollar hv splitter, i read that the $20-$30 dollar one would break within a year, and the unit powered up no problems.
