Try to clean the keyboard. Sometimes the key might got struck, check for the \ key whether it is struck or not. If the problem persists you have to call Sony service center.

You should be able to go into power management utility whether it be sony or Windows and change the "when lid is closed" option from hibernate/shutdown to "do nothing"
Check your user manuals and see if there is a recovery partition mentioned in there. If there isn't then you will need to buy an operating system cd and reinstall from fresh.
Pretty simple. There is only one screw on the bottom of the laptop that secures the cd. Remove the screw, pull out the module, and replace with a new one. Don't forget to put the retainer screw back in.
