You can disassemble the keyboard and clean the contacts and have a 50 percent chance of fixing it, or just buy another keyboard for 20 bucks.

Hope this helps you,
George

usb or ps2 keyboard ? might need to be enabled in BIOS

If you want to use a USB keyboard to access Windows command prompt options, make changes in the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System), or to operate legacy operating systems, you must enable support for the device inside the BIOS.

Shut down the computer and disconnect the USB keyboard. Connect a PS/2 keyboard to the PS/2 connector port on the rear of the computer. Turn on the computer and press the "Delete" key several times as soon as you see the initial boot or company logo screen. Wait for the main BIOS setup screen to appear. Press the right or left arrow keys to move the cursor to the "Advanced" or "Advanced Settings" menu option. Press the "Enter" key. Move the cursor to the "Integrated Peripherals" or "Peripheral Configuration" menu option. Press the "Enter" key. Press the down-arrow key to navigate to the "USB Controllers" option. Press the "+" or "-" key to change the menu option to "Enabled." Move the cursor to the "USB Legacy Support" or "USB Legacy Function" field. Press the "+" key repeatedly until the value option changes to "Enabled." Press the "F10" key to save changes to the BIOS settings and exit the setup utility. Wait until the computer begins to restart and then press the power button and hold it for approximately four or five seconds. The computer shuts down completely. Unplug the PS/2 keyboard from the computer and set it aside. Reconnect the USB keyboard restart the computer. As soon as you see the initial boot screen, tap the "Delete" key several times and wait for the BIOS setup screen to appear. If you are able to access the BIOS setup screen with the USB keyboard, USB support is active in the BIOS.

Enable PS2 & USB in BIOS You can enable PS2 and USB settings in BIOS by entering the BIOS setup screen when the computer boots. You will need to changes to the appropriate settings in this screen. The exact procedures vary by system, but there are a few common methods that may work if the motherboard manual is not available for guidance. The general procedure is the same for any modern computer system, but the menu arrangement and keystrokes to enter the setup program can vary greatly from one machine to the next. Power on or restart the computer and watch the initial boot screen to find the keystroke required to enter BIOS setup. This is often shown at the bottom of the screen. Typical keystrokes include pressing the "F1," "F2," "F9," "F10" or "Del" key. Press this key when the prompt appears on the screen. You can find the proper key in the computer's motherboard manual or on the website of the motherboard or computer manufacturer. Enter the BIOS setup screen and look for the "Advanced" or "Onboard Device Configuration" menu. Use the arrows to select your choice and press "Enter." Change the settings for the PS2 port by moving the menu choice to the "PS2" setting. Press "Enter" to bring up a smaller menu with the options to enable or disable the PS2 ports. Select "Enabled." You can also use the arrow keys or the plus key to change the current selection from "Disabled" to "Enabled" in order to enable the PS2 port. Change the settings for the USB port by moving the menu choice to the "USB" setting. Press "Enter" to bring up a smaller menu with options to enable or disable the USB ports. Select "Enabled." Alternatively, use the arrow keys or the plus key to change the current selection from "Disabled" to "Enabled" in order to enable the USB port. Save the settings and exit by pressing "F10" or using the "Esc" key to back out of the current menu. Choose to save and exit from the main menu if needed. Follow any additional instructions on the screen to save or navigate the menus. Hope this helps.

How do I get into safemode on my acer aspire desktop

1 Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power" button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" keys at the same time. 2 During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup." 3 Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2. 4 Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard. 5 Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode" selection. The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode" and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer Aspire to boot normally again. Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard 1.1 not working

Could be spyware or a virus. Try this.........If this does not help let me know.

Turn the system restore off. System restore keeps everything in restore. Meaning......... If you have spyware or a virus, it will stay in your system. Run Spybot S&D (This program is free and is better than using msconfig as long as you go through the settings and change everything to the highest settings.) Then do the same with Adaware 2008 (sounds stupid to use 2 things for spyware, but one catches what the other one does not.). I have links on my website (tandnfamilyelectronics-online.com). These links go directly to the download so you will not get the run around. You would do good to try a program called Window Washer. This is a great program that completely cleans anything in your computer that you do not need. It will not clean out anything that you have to have. I have used this for years to clean out my customers computers and have cleaned as much as 3 gigs of trash out. If you contact me I will give you some tools that I have for free that will do a great job on your computer. I have them ready to download and I will give you the link.
