No sound problem is power amplifier trouble maybe the IC there is defected or cold solder of joint of the parts.Cold solder issues - each component is soldered into small holes on the printed circuit board which in turn connects said component to the other components. Due to time, heat, use, some solder joints would be cracked or loose. It is possible that the cold solder is still minimally connected (hanging by a thread). When the receiver turns on heat would be generated which would be sufficient to further loosen up the solder joint to the point it no longer provides electrical contact. Jarring the unit creates movement inside enough to re establish the contact, sometime good enough sometimes not enough.

Again, since the unit still operates (sometimes) then it is highly probable that there are no defective components. As you have surmised, it is possibly a loose connection, solder joints are "connections" except that molten soldering lead is used to attach/connect the component to the board, "loose connection" in this sense is equal to "cold solder".

Again on the assumption of no defective parts, then seeking a more experienced buddy for the soldering might be to your advantage. This is of course in addition to the possible electrical hazards when repairing....If i have helped,please click fixya.It is the only way i get paid for my work...

Good luck:

How to hook up 18"

Hello!
SO I am going to give you more of a signal layout from the turntables (or whatever you use to DJ) to the speakers.
Turn tables-> Mixer-> Eq-> Amp-> Sub and other speakers.
The part that I am not understanding is why do you need the QSC amp if you have a powered sub? The powered part of that means that there is a built in amp, which eliminates the need for the QSC amp unless you are sending that sound to main (non sub) speakers.
Hope that helps!

I have a new set up and i need a step by step instruction on how to set up the mixer to the amp and the decks to the mixer/amp

if this is a dj type set up, the mixer should have a main output (RCA or XLR), that is what you connect to the input on the amp, each deck should have RCA outputs, depending on if they are turntables or cd players, plug the turntables into the phono channel inputs on the mixer and if they are cd players, plug them into the line inputs on the mixer

My dj mixers crossfader is not sensitive in the right range. i am looking for a replacement which is either adjustable or sensitive throughout. vestax mixer mdm 410

Hi Ray

Sounds like the fader has reached the end of its life. It should fade smoothly from one side to the other with equal audio from both lines in the middle. . You can get adjustable rate faders, but not for this model. if you do a search for a replacement (click here) there are plenty of places around the world to source one from. They are easy enough to change, overpriced in my opinion, but they dont miss you when it comes to replacements. Changing the fader will fix your problem I am sure. Thanks for using fixya. Good luck

Hooking up a turn table

You should get a turntable adapter. They adjust the impedance so they can be plugged into a typical auxiliary input. Or you get a DJ mixer; most can do the same thing. I have an old Realistic Stereo mixer that does the job, and it has two phono inputs, as well as a Tape input. Very handy for this purpose. Go to Radio Shack if your budget is tight, but a pro DJ mixer would probably be the best solution for an audiophile.
