My amp works fine until i turn up the volume then it cuts off and the protection circuit light comes on. i have double checked and everything is hooked up properly. can the size of the power and ground wire have anything to do with the problem

As soon as the amp gets power the protect light comes on and shuts down the amp. I have checked the fusesand I have checked the wiring. If the amp is getting too much power what are some other things I can check. Could this also be a problem with the deck itself?

Similar problem. On powering up, the protect light comes on and shuts off the amp. This is only on the 2050 for the sub--the 4065 runs fine. The system did run correctly for a while, then this started. I tried unplugging the speaker, no change; also the source, then it doesn't power up at all. Could it be a power or speaker wire gone bad?

Yes make sure there both connected properly, check the fuses, the protection light usualy comes on when there is too much power and the amp protects itself from blowing

If you are getting power to the amp, try this....Find a small speaker, unhook your sub and wire speaker to amp. Turn on your system at a low volume....If the other speaker is playing through amp, then your sub is shot.....If the small speaker doesnt work, then its either your channel is gone on the amp or the rcas have quit off off your head unit.

if the protect light comes on then you might not have enough voltage running to the amp so you would need to add a second battery just for that amp.

JBL amp, worked fine untill 2 days ago. protection light on..

might have roasted your speakers voice coils a little which may be sending the amp into protect mode throw a speaker on it that you know works and if it doesnt trigger the protect circuit then you probably have a blown or almost sub.

Sony xplod amp(XM-1652Z ) power/protect light

if your amp is overheating your sub is needing to much power that the amp doesnt have.
if its cutting out and the red light comes on you need to check the wiring. nothing not even the tinyest speaker wires can be touching.
proper wiring would be your best bet.
but i would upgrade amps.
cheap bang isnt reliable.

Yamaha p4500 protect lights do not go off at power up

You only normally get that when the Volume over peaks, and the amp will automatically cut out to prevent it fron blowing the whole P.A up.
If you know it was working fine before the wires were twisted together, then best try undoing what was done, and making sure that the Amp's Volume is turned down to minimum.

Sonamp 260 cuts out

Normally this denotes a protect condition. Remove the speaker wires from the back of the amp and see if the green light stays on. If this fixes the problem, then there is a short circuit in your wires, speaker level volume control or speakers. The amp sees the short and goes into protect. After a couple seconds it closes the connection again and if the short is still present it goes back into protect.

Jl audio e6450 cuts out above mid-volume

take a look at the power, ground and remote wires. the power and ground should be a minimum 6awg in wire size, and the remote wire at least 12awg. it sounds like your drawing a lot of power,so smaller wires usually mean more heat...the amp will turn off into protectedmode if it gets hot or is used for along period of time,so on any road trip make sure if isnt msothered by sleeping bags, coolers etc...just like any major electronic component, it needs room to col off.
