Fault to the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Go to EBAY and look up a capacitor repair kit for your model kit. They cost $20 to $30. This is to fix the power supply board which is the middle board. Be sure to note polarity of the capacitors you replace. There is a positive and a negative on them and that must be observed. Use a magic marker and mark the top of each cap as you replace it. Replace all caps supplied in the kit even if old ones don't look puffed out. This should fix your power supply. I did this on a friend's set over a year ago and the power supply is still ok.
This is a very common symptom of a failure in the power supply board. The failure is caused by parts called capacitors. Here is a link to information on what needs to be replace on the power supply board to repair it. It is an easy repair, takes about 20 minutes.
There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section Any caps in that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.
This may save you from having to replace the power supply boards.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V, but don't
replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive
it's only doing ripple filtering).
The sound you heard is probably a cap that has blown on the power supply. On plasma tv's some times you can hear the buffers pop but you said this is an LCD and that is USUALLY a blown cap.
The good news is power supply boards can be found on ebay. Or if you have a local electronics guy he can replace them. Sometimes a blown cap just happens, and sometimes its a sign of bigger problems so I tend to replace the board.
If you are comfortable you can take the back panel off, find the power supply board and look for caps with DOMED TOPS or BLOWN OFF TOPS. And then you can be sure. In most cases the power supply board is easy to find, the power cord plugs in to it.
PLEASE PLEASE dont put your fingers where they dont belong, and if you dont know what you are doing call someone who does. No tv is worth calling 911 to get your heart restarted.
Reason for your problem is that there is not proper power being supplied to the tv. Solution- on the power supply there is 2 capacitors 1 of which is exploded already. You would need to replace those with new ones. spotting and exploded cap, good caps are flat on the top and bad caps swell out.
current cap- 10v 2200mf replace with -16v 2200mf or 25v 2200mf repair will include soldering.
Set your volt meter to the diode check and measure across the white fuse [power off and unplugged],Shuld read zero. Then the fuse is good, an open fuse will have no reading. If you replaced the caps....be sure the voltage is the same or greater. The Mfs must be the same...and most importantly be sure they are 105dgrees. In some cases they could be 125 degrees. If you replaced them with 85 degrees you will definitly not get a good start up. And always be sure you check the polarity on the caps to the board. The board should show a plus or minus. The long leg on a new cap is always positive. Locations for the caps I believe are2074 which is 25volt 2200Mf and cap 2081 is 35volt 1200Mf and a third cap 2066 at 16volt 10Mf. Be very careful with cap 2066 as the trace on the board can be damaged when you unsolder this! Good Luck!
